Legend? Really?

While I am sad at anyones death, I can't say I recognised the name. Having said that, I had to google Bon Scott earlier too. I just think the word "legend" is a bit over-used and is too readily applied to mediocre entertainers.

Yup always sad whenever someone dies - however I think it is emotive for those who grew up with him in films like Chitty Chitty etc 🙂 Although not sure what it has to do with cycling? 😉

Well, I thought he was ace, and I am of a certain age where Chitty Chitty Bang Bang meant something to me!

Yeah, yeah, wrong forum, I know. Bad day!

Wow, sad. Not as sad if it had been Lionel Ritchie, which is how I first read it.

"legend" is a very personal thing, I guess...

Aye - what about it? I'm sure I could mentino the names of artists in other bands who've had a lot more influence and success and you'd not know them.

I'd never heard of Bon Scott either. I'm 44 so it's not the ignorance of youth!

More sad that his 50 year career is summarized as ' that bloke what was pretending to be Dick VD's dad in Chitty chitty Bang bang'

very sad. I bet there were loads of other things he was vastly more proud of.

I thought he was the actor in Hook and was floored when it turned out to be Dustin Hoffman! Perhaps Hoffman used him as a method model...

Ronald Belford "Bon" Scott (9 July 1946 – 19 February 1980) was a Scottish-born Australian rock musician, best known for being the lead singer and lyricist of Australian hard rock band AC/DC from 1974 until his death in 1980.[1] He was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland, and emigrated to Melbourne, Australia with his family in 1952 at the age of six.

Aha! he is a singer, not as famous as Freddie Mercury or Eazy-e though who also died to young.

Bon Scott is a legend to anyone who likes rock n roll. (And I did term him a rock n roll legend in my post). I know there will be plenty of people who haven't heard of him.

Just like Lionel Ritchie is a legend to anyone who likes Chitty Chitty Gang Bang.

I'm fairly sure he was child catcher...although scaredypants seems to think he was/is Brian blessed, which is a bit confusing.
