We will be in touch
Long story short. Me and Mrs Rascal have a week off soon and need to drop some stuff off with her brother who lives slap bang in the middle of Glasgow. We’d like to stay with him for a night and go out for a curry/beers, but having a LWB T5 potentially makes that awkward. Don’t fancy trying to get that into a multi-storey car park and he’s in a flat with no parking. Might mean a quick drop off and get outta town to the nearest campsite. At the end of the same week we’d like to spend a couple of nights in Edinburgh as it’s our anniversary (had our honeymoon there 11 years ago but COVID scuppered plans to revisit last year). There’s a site that’s an easy commute in so that works ok…or we might stay in a hotel for that night if parking not an issue. The days in between could be spent at Stirling, Callander, the Trossachs are nearby, Perth etc. Appealing to locals for knowledge and you lot in general to help formulate a plan in the locale to get the best out of the area in a 6 night period…cheers
For visiting Glasgow I'd consider parking at a station in a suburb and taking the train in.
For Edinburgh, Mortonhall is perfect for what you're after, Parking is a bit of a pita in Edinburgh.
There are parking spots in Glasgow that aren't multi story btw, one next to merchant square that's handy, and also a bigger one at stockwell street, behind st Enoch centre.
Driving in Glasgow isn't too bad tbh, Edinburgh centre is a nightmare.
I reckon you could park up overnight pretty easily right by my old place on Balshagray Drive, always quiet there and no parking restrictions. Easy walk to Partick cafes/shops/subway/train.

Aye, there's lots of spots like that in Glasgow as grum says, I sometimes park up by the Kayak place on north bank canal street, it's only a 10 minute walk into the city centre.
Edinburgh's fine to drive in if you're not in the very centre of the city. But also, neither of these places are Beirut - just park on the street outside the flat in Glasgow, then come to Edinburgh and stick it outside wherever you're staying. It'd be a shame to not be able to wander around as the mood takes you at whatever time without having to worry about getting the bus for 45 minutes out to Mortonhall. Come and see Edinburgh, not a field next to it!
