I bought a Gregory rucksack from an american outlet; it was posted priority International(tm)and was processed in New York on the 13th; so how long for it to get across the Atlantic? Anybody got any experience of them.

Did you get a tracking number for it, That usually gives you a delivery date.

Yes, lots. It can be a bit of a lottery (its the same both ways). I would say 2-3 weeks. We have had quicker, we have had slower!

My experience (4 or 5 items in the last couple of months) is 3-4 working days to get from the shop to UK customs. Item then sits in customs for up to 10 working days, then a couple more for Parcelfarce to justify the 'charge' they levy for handling your package.

If it goes via Parcel Force due to it's size and there is duty to pay then that's where the delay will be.

Instead of arriving to deliver it and asking for payment via a hand held terminal, they post you a letter 2nd class post requesting payment (usually after it's been in the country on their shelves for a few days). This can add a week or more to the delivery process. If you have a tracking number find out if it's held awaiting payment and phone the local depot and pay it, job done.

I've just (as in this morning) received something that was sent via USPS from Michigan on 8th May. I got the customs letter & paid on line on Fri, then scheduled delivery for today (could've gone for Sat at an extra charge).

Ah, still showing as being in transit,I wondered if they would pass it on to parcel farce. Still, couldn't get that model in the UK in my size.Works out at about 20% of value and post iirc?

If you put the USPS number into the Royal Mail tracking service, it'll convert it to the GB number once it's actually arrived in this country. I found that checking the USPS updates stopped happening it had been handed over (it always appeared "in transit" until it was actually delivered.)
