... after the games.

I asked London 2012 and they emailed me back:

"Unfortunately, after the games the temporary structures will be taken down. We will work closely with our partners, including Essex County Council and The Salvation Army, to explore what course will be left in place for future use.

This means that the public may not be able to use the same track the athletes used at games time."

So, maybe at least a flavour of it, then. 🙂

By all accounts, those rock gardens will **** you up, if you're not committed. A wise move to remove them, I think, considering the kind of traffic it would probably receive once the public have seen it on TV and think "I can ride a bike, I'll have a go on that..."

They removed the small drops from the freeride bit at Cwm Carn cos too many have a go heroes were spannering themselves.

Having ridden the Olympic xc course back in March, I can tell you those rock gardens really are a big step above even your average STW forum dwellers ability, let alone people who have just watched the Olympics and thought "I'll give that a go on my Apollo"... When I rode the course my thoughts going down one section were "these rocks will be spattered in blood come race day"... Parts of it are brutal! I couldn't ride the a line on that big rock drop at all, though managed most of the rest of it if somewhat slowly and precariously.

It looks steep in the photos and they normally flatten everything off, so it must be flippin steep!

Pity that, although some clown on a crap bike will hurt themselves

Even the epic/hardcore 6inch high 'shore' has gone from the Thetford red route

to be fair 6inch shore at thetford would be considered 'elevation',
ill bet the flatlanders were getting nosebleeds at that altitude

When I rode the course my thoughts going down one section were "these rocks will be spattered in blood come race day".

There was blood on them there stones after the Friday practice session!

Don't think any claret was left on race day but the Silver medealist on the Womens podium left a bit of "bark" behind!
