[Closed] using an iron to de-crease shoes?

Bought some lovely leather shoes and managed to make them look awful in short order by forgetting to put the shoe tree in them. So now they're covered in creases.

I see online that you can supposerbly rescue them by using a steam iron on them.

Anybody tried it & does it work? Or is it a joke at the expense of anyone gullible enough to believe the advice of a youtube video?

I've already bent my iPhone in half then microwaved it's replacement, I can't afford to bugger my shoes up as well!

Well in that case I'll save you making the obvious and expensive mistake in selecting the iron- many of the tutorials fail to make it clear that it should be a waffle iron that you use.

I used to use a spoon heated over a gas flame to take the grain out of leather in my boots so they held a better polish.

I'm sure it's possible with an iron too but tbh, is it that important not to have creased toes in your shoes?

Thanks, saved me having to ask the embarrassing question of how to get the remnants of solder off my shoes.

Pretty sure it is, yes.
