Tesco are flogging off samsung phones in local store wondering how easy would be to unlock so could use with o2 SIM?
Model?
Galaxy y
buy a code off ebay for a couple quid?
Several sellers on eBay will be able to generate a unlock code for that phone. Usually about £6-7.
...or visit your local high street/market mobile phone repair shop.
I've unlocked various phones over the last six months for either nothing, or a couple of quid. Do a search on the internet. Usually it's very easy. At worst you have to buy a code off someone which arrives in a few minutes and costs bob all.
Tesco use o2 so wont the sim just work?
Haven't bought it yet
Found this site https://www.freeunlocks.com/blog/how-to-unlock-samsung-galaxy-y-for-free.htm
What's the catch? Obviously free but what do they get out of it?

Not necessarily, no. An Asda SIM doesn't work in an Orange or Virgin locked phone for instance, despite Asda and Virgin both being on EE/Orange.
Tell Tesco you're going abroad and want to use another SIM whilst travelling. That worked for me with O2 - cost nowt to get it done.
