We will be in touch
Anyone know any parts of the UK that have close proximately to both beach and woods?
Partner seems to think there is somewhere in Wales?
Cheers.

We used to go on holiday here - http://www.barendholidayvillage.co.uk/
Great place, we only rode the family trails as I was a lot younger when we went!
Loch Morlich in the Cairngorms, a top ten beach (apparently) and some of the best woods you'll ever see. 8)
Bournemouth/Poole
Some of the best beaches in the world. The new forest half hour away and the Purbecks half hour to an hour in the opposite direction.
Only downside is they are very flat. Very very flat.
Should have said that Scotland is a bit far to travel. Live in Bucks so really want something within 150 miles - as a family we drive about 50-60 miles a week so any long journeys wear me out!!!!!
Ah, sorry. The water in Loch Morlich could only have thawed in the last couple of weeks anyway so I doubt you're missing any great swimming 8)
porlock or minehead
exmoor as a backdrop.
Newborough Forest, Anglesey. Totally stunning
Pants. Got there too late, used to live near Newborough for a good few years - absolutely lovely place - there is riding in the woods - but its a pootle, Marin and Penmachno aren't too far away mind.
The "run" to Scotland is worth every dull mile in the car once you get there!!
Salcombe Estuary, especially on the "right" side of the estuary.
I'll 2nd Bournemouth, mainly as I live there. It's 3-5 hours drive from most of Wales, but it does fit the beach / forest situation perfectly.
The Forest is flat but there are hills in the Purbecks. Only 197m so nothing Wales / Scotland epic, but sufficient to test most people.
Holkham, Norfolk.
Holkham again. Such a beautiful place.
Machynlleth area of wales
lovely beaches in Aberdyfi and Borth (although stick to the beach just North of Borth - don't bother going to Borth itself).
Loads of riding - Coed y Brenin and Nant Y Arin are close by
The New Forest has a nice stretch of coastline and some decent beaches from Lymington to Christchurch. Full of retirees.
Although it's kinda flat - the best riding in the New Forest is in the northern half of it, away from the coast.
You can always get the ferry from there over to the Isle of Wight - some great beaches around Yarmouth and the island's western extremities and the compact, hilly, trail-heavy confines of Brightstone Forest.
Cheers all, a few places for me to have a look at, really appreciate it.
Scarborough/Whitby for beach.
Dalby Forest and York Moors for riding.
Bournemouth/PooleSome of the best beaches in the world. The new forest half hour away and the Purbecks half hour to an hour in the opposite direction.
Only downside is they are very flat. Very very flat
New Forest is pretty flat, but the Purbecks is hilly (note, not mountainous..!). Good enough for challenging climbs and some nice technical descents!

Loch Morlich has some of the hungriest midges know to man and beast - avoid the main season!

Nant Gwrtheyrn, runs end on the beach! Bit DH oriented, might be some trails, don't know.
fort victoria on the isle of wight!
Wales, Cardiff! Got Ogmoor (for the beach) and Castell Coch and various other hills to ride in. Also Swansea, have Afan etc.
Exmoor +1
SSShhhhh, keep this one quiet

Wells-Next-The Sea in Norfolk.
Bosherston beach in Wales is another.
Both have campsites.
I'm sure there are plenty of others
Kent?
Lots of sandy/rocky/shingle beaches and plenty of woodland also.
Holkham, Norfolk.
Absolutely! But it's not really Holkham - the campsite is Wells-next-the-Sea. Miles of beach and pinewood. The woods are full of brilliant (though non hilly) singletrack.

barmouth beach is quite nice and it's fairly handy for the welsh trail centres
Mmm, just the thread i'm looking for! We stayed at Bala in wales, only 20 mins from coed y brenin, machllynithththththth(!) and others (Barmouth down the road and a family trail to it from Dolgelleau.
(spelling apologies)
Short drive to Southampton, then boat to Santander? Beach, real mountains, trees...
Pornmouth.
Swanage, Isle Of Purbeck. Forty mins to Puddltown forest.
