It doesn't. the electoral college votes have been cast - thats it
Quite.
The question was...what will his next move be; not, is it relevant or will it make any difference or does it change anything.
We know the electoral college have voted and that's it.
As for barr's resignation, trump released the letter - coincidentally, I'm sure, as the electoral college votes confirmed Biden's win; it's a masterpiece of sycophancy - truly vomit inducing.
I meant the alternative slate will not work in any way
I think his next move will be to try to create a violent protest
A violent protest will achieve nothing. It will not overturn the result and would damage the Republican party. I'm pretty sure they would distance themselves from such an action.
The alternative electors thing is kind of genius tbh. The trick of it is that most people don't actually understand how the electoral college works, so getting the GOP electors to basically stage a little pretend electoral college vote casting is actually impressing a bunch of people who aren't necessarily into the whole "REPUBLIC NOT DEMONCRACY" thing but are dupe-able. Good visuals. Likewise, have your electors turn up at capitol buildings and say "How can you be doing the electoral vote casting, we're not in there" looks great to the Trumpets, because "they're turning away electors OMG its fraud" rather than "those guys have no part to play in this and no right to be inside"
It's weird to have gone in just a few years from all the wailing about faithless electors, to having voteless electors, and electorless electors. And all of these fraudulent, illegal votes that these electors and fake electors are trying to cast...
The less genius thing of course is that everyone involved is absolutely disgracing themselves... Anyone who'll pull this sort of stunt clearly shouldn't be an elector. But that doesn't actually matter much right now and who knows if it'll matter to anyone in 5 years. And it's not like any more proof was needed that Trump isn't just a freak or a one-off or that the GOP can just return to business as usual.
Listening to what Trumpets are saying online the "alternate slate" messaging seems to be "Hey, we submitted 'duelling electors' that means these are now contested elections and still open to legal action"
Duelling Electors is something Reuters warned about in October but they did note:
It is theoretically possible for the governor and legislature, each representing a different political party, to submit two different election results, leading to so-called “dueling slates of electors.”
I don't think the alternate slates here were approved by the governor or legislature though (could be wrong).

It's also to quash the suggestion that any action now is pointless since the electors have already voted. Essentially, Stephen Miller's argument is that if they win the upcoming lawsuits (they have some plans?) then their electors' choices could be accepted. It's just a way of visually keeping the fight going. It's meaningless without a SC ruling that the elected electors* votes are somehow ineligible - which isn't going to happen.
#stupidcoup
*This sounds stupid and tautologous but that's how the Electoral College rolls.
Excuse the TikTok link but Emma Silverman (of Meidas Touch / Meidas University) has been doing a great job of explaining some of this stuff in bite-size chunks:
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZStjC7nJ/
She confirms what I read elsewhere: the alternate slates were not endorsed by the relevant governor or legislature so they are as irrelevant as any other random person showing up and saying the vote should go to Trump.
Why haven't more Republican politicians jumped ship? Surely they are ruining their reputations by supporting Trump's shenanigans? Or is this like the purge of the Remainers in the Tory party where dissent means deselection (except done by the losing side)?
Why haven’t more republican politicians jumped ship?
They don’t want to alienate their voter base
They don’t want to alienate their voter base
... which has lurched to the right and encompassed a large number of formerly-disenfranchised right wing nut job men, at the expense of (a presumably smaller number of) 'moderate' voters. By seeming honourable and reasonable, they risk losing that important demographic - the MAGA nut job.
With our short attention span, a 24 hour news cycle and politics by Twitter, they're betting that people will have largely forgotten this in 4 years.
AG Barr resigned / fired.
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/12/14/politics/ag-barr-resignation-letter/index.html
That letter looks like it was written by someone connected to Trump and then given to him to sign. It's difficult to read with that much brown-nosed garbage in.
What’s his next move going to be?
There was an article in one of the more respected US papers yesterday, (NY Times possibly) that said Pence has to validate the electoral college votes and there can be objections to that. There's little to no chance the objections would pass and even the unconscionable a-hole Pence couldn't really fail to do his validation, but it put's him in a difficult position of choosing between his constitutional duty and Trump's demands. What a shame. 🤣
I think it might finally be over.......
It doesn't sound like a man about to authorise an "Alternate Elector State" on his patch.

/blockquote>Is there a page / paragraph missing or couldn't I see see it for all the sycophantic crap but that letter didn't actually say anything.
Thanks for the opportunity to update you on your tantrum.
A potted history of what the Great Cheeto has done for the bestest country in the USA against the evil plotting Democrats.
I'll get my coat.
Have a nice Christmas.
Certainly isn't clear it's a resignation letter, is it?
Taking the penultimate paragrah as a whole, when he says "depart" he clearly means "for good" not "for the evening". Sounds like resignation to me, though the "as discussed..." part opens it up to any other interpretation depending on what was discussed.
What kind of paragraph formatting is used there?
I've heard of hanging paragraph (or hanging indent), but that's t'other way round and it's new to me.
Hanging outdent??

I threw-up a little in my mouth.
Think it was dictated by Trump
Good Barr opinion piece on the Graun (OK we know their position on all of this) https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/dec/15/william-barr-exit-bad-news-donald-trump-post-presidency-pardons. The Orange Shitgibbon and his entourage are just circling the plug hole...
McConnell congratulated Biden in the same way a silent assassin congratulates his next victim to be.
He has far to much influence in the senate and ultimately, the country. Remember when he put a long term roadblock on most of Obama's term, inc the judge appointment?
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell boasted about blocking former president Barack Obama's judicial appointments, a two-year effort that allowed Donald Trump and a Republican-controlled congress to stack courts with conservative judges and create a conservative majority on the nation's high court.
Fox host Sean Hannity told the Kentucky senator that he was shocked that the Obama administration "left so many vacancies and didn't try to fill those positions".
"I'll tell you why," Mr McConnell said, laughing. "I was in charge of what we did the last two years of the Obama administration."
His face reminds me of a badly filled sack ... nasty individual.

? That is normal book-style first-line indent. But it is used together with vertical space between paragraphs, so not really necessary. Probly a typographical purist would say do one or the other, but not both.

Its a traditional indent. although slightly larger than normal.
A "hanging indent" is when the first line extends to the left of the main text, and is not nearly as common.
Republican lawmakers pushed back fiercely, accusing Wood of being a Democratic operative attempting to depress GOP turnout for Perdue and Loeffler.
I'm not sure what to think in this bizarre post election world of stupidity. But if Lin Wood helps the Dems to get the Senate that'll be nice. Having a very slim majority may not help to get the big things done, but it could help to convince the American people to vote in more Dem senators in two years. Also Rand Paul is up in 2022. Getting that little shit out would be lovely.
His face reminds me of a badly filled sack … nasty individual.
I have seen him described as an evil turtle which seems rather apt.
He is one of those people who helped create the ultra partisan split and does seem a rather poisonous influence on the US political scene.
I dont doubt that his admitting Biden has won is simply because he knows the chances of reversing it are pretty much zero and he thinks it will damage the republicans to try.
I genuinely worry how people that are that delusional are going to cope. 😲 He clearly has Trump all wrapped up with God in his mind, he sees "evil" everywhere, and believes he has a duty to eliminate it.
Americans have always been extremely patriotic & proud of their country. Now the word “Patriot” has been hijacked to mean a Trumpist white supremacist. Much like the far right in the England hijacked our flags.
The Red Cross that was borrowed from Genoa and was the sign of a Turkish/Armenian saint? That’ll make their head spin!
In a generation's time this will all make a fascinating analysis of the human psyche. It would be easy to sit here and scoff at the stupids but there are too many of them for it to be purely intelect.
I know it's not in the same league of extreme but all my life I have looked at Germany pre WWII and been baffled by how they came to collectively accept what was happening as normal, logical and reasonable. In a way I now, having 'benefited' from watching USA unravel live, have a slightly better understanding. 77% of republicans believe the election was rigged or there was mass fraud - that's well over a third of adults in the country....
77% of republicans believe the election was rigged or there was mass fraud
Do they though? Really? I'm not saying they don't report that belief when asked, but I'm skeptical that they all actually believe it. It's mind-boggling though.
This should make us all realise how susceptible we are to being brainwashed. The Germany comparison is entirely justified and chilling.
Apologies for more TikTok links but there are two guys on there that did street interviews at the recent “Stop The Steal” protests:
jolly_good_ginger:
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZStfB4U8/
waltermasterson:
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZStfLCde/
Fair to say that they met some “characters”. Walter is usually quite happily snarky but he appeared genuinely shaken by the more recent interviews.
Note: they had to disguise as OAN reporters because the protestors refused to even talk to any other media!
I would pay per view all night to sit and watch Navy Seals physically extract the small handed grumpy baby from the White House live on Fox News.

Given how many members of the secret service he infected/put at risk for some showboating I suspect whoever is in charge of rotas there is being besieged with requests to be on the handle trespassers duty that day.
Or they could just do what they did to Noriega and blast loud music at him......maybe we should start a playlist
