A good use of public funds and should we be concerned?
The internet is plagued with bottom-feeding cowards posting hate, anonymously of course. If someone wants to have a go at shining a light onto one of these shithouse rats then good luck to them.
Why would we be concerned - You're not thinking of some bolex principle of anonymous free internet speech are you? I guess if it was an excessively costly legal process there would be problems with a council taking it on out of the public purse, but in principle it sounds absolutely fine.
Would you be pleased if it was your council tax? Seriously?!!!

My faith in politicians (of all peruasions) is almost non-existent, but if any of Mr Monkey's blog is true, it serves to confirm my suspicions that they are pretty much all desperately self-interested, dishonest, power-hungry toads.
That said, I'm glad the council is taking steps to protect its employees...

Having the council's work falsely represented might have cost implications too. If popular opinion, guided by false information, forces changes of policy which leads to the un-doing or re-doing of the councils work - all for no net gain - then the cost of addressing those false claims is probably the lesser evil.
If it is indeed one of the elected councillors thats behind the false statements then thats also undemocratic - by using a false identity he's effectively creating a shill - in internet alter ego bidding up his campaign.
