Yes they were great - and you know it's being brewed in Manchester again? By JW Lees.

It's too orangey for crows, it's just for me and my dog.

We all adore a Kia-Ora.

I liked the Hamlet Cigars one that was split into three mini ads (beginning/middle/end of the break) with the Aborigini throwing boomerangs and they didn’t come back. So he smoked a cigar and they all came back. Or was it a beer brand?

This one because it made me appreciate not having to cycle on cobblestones or eating brown bread.

"Accrington Stanley - who are they?"

Don't need to post the videos.

otherwise the old Lionel Blair cut is surely part of our collective consciousness?

Annoyingly youtube seems to think this is an advert for Tennent's Lager. It's not, it's an ad for Caledonian Best. It's Frankie Miller singing I liked both of them

Not strictly an advert, but, years ago, watching Poltergeist 2 (IIRC) in the cinema. There was a scene where an Indian Chief (again, IIRC) was sprinkling a circle of white powder on a room to keep the Poltergeist at bay. Then someone in the cinema chirped up with:

'Do the Shake n' Vac, and Put the Freshness Back'!

Totally ruined the moment, but the whole audience burst out laughing. 🙂

For me..

Carling (Dambusters)

Guinness ( Surfer)

and Boddingtons (Trollies)

all got it just right

Sketchy film quality ,but I like the 'Dancing man' one as he looks like my pal Harry

Not a fan of car adverts, but this VW independent films one always makes me smile

Sorry, only skimmed the thread but for me it's:

"We hope it's chips, it's chips."

"With mild clean, fairy liquid"

But....

The best were the government ones telling us to close a farm gate or not to touch high voltage pylon lines etc.

Honourable mention the the "world's first natural born smoker" and the Aids one too.

Jeebus, the AIDS one terrified me as a kid in the 80s.

Now AIDS is classed as a manageable disease, utterly incredible how far science has come.

I'll probably embed these wrong, but.....

Full Moon.....Half Moon.....Total Eclipse.....

I still do it with my daughter every time we eat Jaffa Cakes. I haven't shown her the ad though so she probably wonders what the hell I'm on about.

The Wa'er In Ma'Jorka......

Not a TV advert, but this Peugeot 106 GTi advert is brilliant

The series of Leeds Building Society adverts with George Cole.

Genuinely witty, creative and memorable - better than some of the shows they were shown in between — and from a marketing POV they always included the key product features.

Also, I’ve been in a few earthquakes and the Trevor Mr Softy advert is always how I describe the experience to people.

Of all the adverts i have been exposed to, it has to be the Cadbury Gorilla. it's the only one i can really remember. Unless you count some kid being fried for flying a kite near a pylon.

I'll not link to it because, well, you'll see if you search for it on youtube, but a guy called Crobin did a parody of a Tic-Tacs advert called "4 Calories".  At the time it wasn't made particularly clear that it wasn't an official tic-tac production and hilarity ensued.

Great soundtrack, very memorable, not very corporate, probably nsfw.

I can't find it on the 'tube so I don't know if the "Nice one Cyril" bread ad that spawned the football chat would tickle me as much now as it did in 1972 when I was 14.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nice_One_Cyril

I also like the Guinness "dancing man" ad.  I used to play it in lectures I gave for many years as an important case about Dramatic copyright was about it.

Not a favourite, but certainly elusive.

I recall from sometime in the late 80s an annoying series of adverts for a car manufacturer, I think it was Vauxhall, that had an annoying young sales lad named Harry, and his patronising boss would chide him with the strapline "Never joke about money, Harry".

Google seems to have no reference to it whatsoever. Am I imagining it?
