Only just into the festivities, was really popular last year.
Sounds like everyone got out okay and the fire service got to it quickly. Lots of people evacuated in their skates though so their shoes will now be ash.
Having worked with the council in trying to sort that building out, as sad as it is it’s probably the best thing for it. I know it has great history, heritage and childhood memories for so many locals, but really the building has been in such a poor state of repair for such a long time it just doesn’t seem worth the actual cost it will take to bring it back to its best.
Edit - obviously as long as everyone is safe 😄
the building bit is fine apparently, just the ice rink structure. I quite like that they have been finally re-using it.

In all seriousness, they will be insured for the loss but not loss of earnings. They will have spent a tonne of cash getting it ready for a busy Christmas.
