My wife's ordered some made to order blinds so I'm fully aware that they are non refundable or returnable under the distance selling regulations.
However, the image of the fabric on their web site is totally different to how the blinds look when they have turned up. They're closed today so I can't contact them but I'm sure they'll try and fob me off with the made to order, non returnable/refundable line.
Has anybody had a similar experience with custom made stuff not being as described when it's turned up? And more to the point, have you managed to return it for a refund?
I ordered a custom something-or-other for my son from abroad, that ended up being a massive amount of money, but nothing like what I thought I was ordering.
Unfortunately, I had no choice for recouping the loss other than to sell it on (in accurate terms).
If they are not as described, the customisation exclusion doesn't apply, see quote below:
FromThere is a difference between :
1. returning an item under the cooling off period and
2. returning an item that does not conform to the contract (e.g, it is misdescribed, not durable, breach of contract etc).ANY item that is purchased and returned under 2 (above) is done so as a statutory right and as such the exclusions that normally apply (such as personalised items) do not apply to these. Remember, the exclusions only cover returns made under the cooling off period.
Further, when an item is returned under 2, THE SELLER, NOT YOU, PAYS THE COST OF RETURN.

If you have made reference to the website or to the descriptions used on the website (or if you selected from pictures using a dropdown tickbox etc) then the images on the website are part of the contract. If they are substantially different then its fair to class these differences as a breach of a condition of the contract. If the differences are modest then it could be a breach of warranty of the contract.
Greybeard has it right!
Did you not ask for samples of the fabric before you ordered, most of these online places offer to send out fabric swatches foc
