How do I set up my iphone so my wife can monitor from home where I am on my ride ?
She has an iphone too, and the home computer is an imac.
I'm totally confused, please spell it out to me in words of one syllable !

If your both on the same iCloud account, use find my iPhone.
If your not use the find my friends app.
You have to have a 3g connection too, could be a problem dependent where you are.
I think it'll be fine on any data connection - no (well very limited) 3G here and we've used it on occasion. You'll not get second-by-second tracking but it'll update every few minutes.
OP, you can use find my phone or apps like Endomondo have live tracking. That way you have a record of the ride too.
In a text message from or to the other person, if you click on details you can send your location to that person as a one off or share for One hour, until the end of the day or indefinitely.

Find My iPhone / Find My Friends is better IMO because you don't need to remember to run anything. It is all built in.
(Just used Find My iPhone tonight to track the missus on her way home so I knew when to put the oven on).
i didn't know about find my friends, useful thread.
My mates wife used find my iphone to track him down with his bit on the side whilst at her house. Apparently the house was up a really long drive and he knew he was busted when he heard her Porsche Cayenne roaring up the drive.
