They weren't military medals apparently.
They were queen's jubilee medals and the like.
Too slow!!!
Maybe for the next hour or so some thoughts might be better left unsaid, we can pick them up again this afternoon?
Just my opinion.
Absolutely silent in our village today once the dog walkers and horsists had done their early morning routines.
No cars, no one out walking, no kids out. It's like the height of lockdown, quieter than Christmas Day.
Why aren't they showing all the world leaders? I wanna see Biden standing next to jacinda ardern and macron.
The geezer who gave me my Covid booster jab just now at 11am was wearing his medal ribbons on his scrub top, unfortunately I was in and out too quickly to discuss what they were for.
Just my opinion.
Why are you on the internet sharing your opinion during the funeral? How disrespectful.
How have they got they sound mix so good? Has sounded amazing, inside and out.

im disappointed it’s not in ultra high definition
The outside sound isn’t that good. My brother works for the BBC and the sound quality he recorded is much better than what they broadcast
Is the plan to eat her later ? Plenty of Rosemary on the coffin
Omg how good were those horns!?
Excellent service. Great choice of hymns. Well you on form too. Put together by the Queen and former archbishop of York, John Sentamu. Mrs TiRed says rosemary is for remembrance.
The lights don’t looks so good when shot from above.

Breach of infection control policy.
My booster today was cancelled. Next available booking October, if I get Cv ffs......
So why isn't Harry wearing a uniform?
Breach of infection control policy.
For covid vaccinations? What are the infection risks? My very first jab as I remember it was given to me by a young doctor in ordinary clothes with his sleeves rolled up.
So why isn’t Harry wearing a uniform?
He gave up the right to wear any of it when he left Royal duties.
So why isn’t Harry wearing a uniform?
He's not allowed to play with the dressing up box anymore.
Deleted. Daft post to have on the top of a new page

So why does The Prince of Nonces still wear his?
We were told he was stepping down from Royal duties?
Neither are in uniform today gobuchul.
Except Harry was a serving officer and as such should be able to wear his AAC uniform but he has to request permission from Buck palace.

I've not seen him in uniform. When did he wear it?
That 'king lot just demean the poor souls who actually serve.
He was in uniform when the children stood at the coffin. Which is ridiculous.
There really are some daft uniforms. I have just realised how utterly absurd bearskin hats are. If you saw someone walking down the road wearing one you would think wtf. You wouldn't necessarily think that if you saw someone wearing a beret, or even perhaps a peak cap. They are just so ridiculously tall. The helmets with long ponytails look incredibly stupid too.
And as for beefeaters, I have never understood why grown men are expected to dress like something out of Alice in Wonderland.
I don't understand the appeal behind all the "pageantry".
Usual standard there from all the sailor boys holding hands! 😉
It's a joke. 😄
I didn't watch it today but assumed he would of, as I saw him wearing it standing by the coffin.

For all their faults and I'm no fan of Andrew especially but he and Harry did actually serve and are war veterans who have put themselves in harm's way.

Ah, gotcha.

Seen. I think they asked and were given permission for that occasion. Wise choice of Harry to choose Blues & Royals rather then AAC, the beret doesn't look as good as a cap in No.1 dress.
What are the rules regarding ex-services wearing uniform? Particularly public/official events?
How good is London looking without all the cars?
There should be a car free Sunday once a month around buck house and the parks
FWIW William also served as a pilot for the Navy and RAF after transferring from an armoured division command, but was prevented from combat service after Harry's duty was leaked and specific threats made.
Charles was in all three services too, flying helicopters and commanding a minesweeper.
They may not have seen combat service, but do all service personnel who have not seen combat also demean others?
Edward's service in the RM was memorably short and his military appointments are honorary.
What are the rules regarding ex-services wearing uniform? Particularly public/official events?
Put simply, you can't. Medals and & beret for veterans, with the exception of Chelsea pensioners who have a specific uniform.
@gobuchul retired officers (don't know about the rank and file) can but need to gain permission.
Ironically its only Harry and Andrew who were deployed to combat areas.
Royals aside, I quite like the pageantry of big state events. We do it very well, and we've got **** all else to offer the world at the moment, sadly.
Gotta agree, it's utterly spectacular.
I don’t understand the appeal behind all the “pageantry”.
It's a bit like going to Disneyland, you need to suspend the disbelief and go with flow otherwise reality kicks in and you realise it's all a bit pointless. Sometimes we all need a bit of make believe.
Although just a small group compared to the larger spectacle, the funeral party have conducted their role perfectly throughout.
Slightly off topic but my claim to fame is that I nearly smacked Harry in the face with a toilet door whilst out in Afghan. All the helicopter squadrons were in a separate compound at camp bastion and whilst Harry was on the Apaches I was based two hangars down on the Merlin.
We all shared the same loo block and when coming out of the loos I swung the door open and nearly smacked him in the face. I think I actually shat myself !!

So do I. I've always enjoyed Trooping the Colour, particularly this year when I discovered a feed without commentary, but then I like military bands (my dad was ,in a minor way, a regimental musician and one of my oboes was bought from a member of the Household Cavalry).
Hard to top a solo piper though.

I can smell this post. Good times.
When was Harry ever in harms way? He was surrounded by his own security detail on bases and never left it. He only went because he got caught in Vegas so had to go and do apr trip to make amends
My dad was part of Churchill’s parade. Queen’s colour squadron. Often had marching band music on in our house. Still love the music.
Today seems very backwards looking, rightly so, but that will be used by people to try and create an “us” with dissenting voices shut down. We need to be heightened to that.

Oh, you were there too! @Renton we've got another service member here that has got the inside gen. 🙄
A very good friend was an MP at Bastion and made aware of the arrangements because his role

Well either you or your 'mate' are full of shit.
Harry flew countless mission supporting troops in contact, escort to the MERT aircraft amongst the most significant.
He left the wire plenty of times.
someone stated earlier in this thread, that our love of the royals was over.
i think we can safely say that from today's display it is far from being over.
a fantastic show of love and respect by the queens people. amazing.
