Tonight I'm in work late as there is a power shutdown and we have to stay here and check all the equipment comes on properly

Every one was told to leave the building at 6:15 at the latest, multiple emails, told in person etc...
Most people left well before

One guy known for his arrogance and whom I had personally reminded about an hour earlier was the last to leave

He stepped into the security door exactly as the power shut down at 18:30.... And got trapped

Then ignored security who told him not to try & force them as it triggers some sort of anti terrorist deadbolt, he then spent the next 20 mins complaining bitterly as security & engineering guys tried to open the door.
TBH I don't think they rushed

We sat there eating our work supplied sarnies on the comy sofas in the lobby enjoying the show

If I had to pick 10 people out of the 1200 odd that work here, most likely to ignore the comms about this he'd be on that list

Brilliant, nothing more satisfying than arrogant, ignorant people getting their comeuppances 🙂

And knowing that for the rest of his "career" everyone will only ever think of him trapped in that door.

There’s always one

And everyone usually knows who that ‘one’ will inevitably be

I’m presuming that was the most satisfying sarnie you’ve ever eaten? 😂

I once worked for a family-run engineering business where dad was... a martinet, shall we say. Was chatting to number two son after work one evening when we became aware of a thudding noise - on investigation, it was accompanied by vicious and prologed swearing. No 2 Son says "is he stuck in the toilet? Now I can die happy". 🙂

Wasn't dad's fault, but it was incredibly satisfying. 🙂

"Number 2 son" is wholly appropriate.

There’s a new nickname for that guy somewhere in this. Struggling to come up with anything better than Zod though 🙁

When he comes in tomorrow, have Total Eclipse of the Heart as his walk-on music. Oh wait, they're mantraps aren't they. Suspicious Minds, then.

Some entertainment to keep him going. Feel free to skip to the end if you already have enough art in your life.

Have to get site services to do a company wide email pointing out that when you are told to leave the office before 18:15 because of engineering work, that it's best to leave the office before 18:15 or you'll get trapped in the security door and waste a load of engineering and security resource that would have been better spent dealing with the actual issue at hand...

Don't even need to name the guy, everyone will know who it was before lunch.

If that's the place I think it is he isn't the first person to be trapped in one of them..... At least this time he had a view, somebody else got caught up in one of those in a basement of the same building a few years ago.

Is he still there?

You could argue that maybe they should have made sure the building was clear before shutting down the power…

Is he the CEO? They know best 😉

There is a few everywhere you work and play right! I am starting a new job next week for a London Uni. I went into the office before Christmas to say hi (as all interviews were remote), met a few people who were all lovely, except one possible t0sser...

I am 55 now and feel I can spot them pretty early :-))) One of his questions were 'what level are you?' Like that matters.. He want to know if he was more senior, I said I didnt know (I did). A few BA's in the meeting room made a couple comments after he left. They had not met him before. You know the type, I am so important/I earn so much/I have this expensive watch on, and it cost blah...

I wonder if I am right or wrong about him? Lets see

Had similar few years ago and locked someone in a building we were working on. Got a panicked call when I was home saying I'm locked in you need to come back. Er no I'm home and you deliberately finished late so said goodbye and hung up. No idea what happened to him!

Well this has cheered me right up.

Kimbers, please promise us you will never ever let him forget it. Call him Zod and remember every meeting room or building has doors you can regularly refer to in numerous ways for great comic effect.

Or just refer to him as "The Colonel" and whenever anyone asks why you can retell the story of his arrogance.
