Shout out the companies who've gone above and beyond for you lately. I've got a couple.
Firstly is Led Lenser. I had an old H7 head torch which developed a fault. The design is such that the battery pack sits at the back of the head and the light (obvs) is at the front; a cable joins them. On my last camping trip, it failed seemingly with an internal cable break near the battery pack. Looking at newer models this is now a curly-cord, so presumably is a fixed Known Problem.
Led Lenser torches carry a five year warranty. Their return procedure is "fill in this form and send it back," no RMA numbers, no proof of purchase, nothing. The form asks "where and when approximately did you buy it" and I wrote "four years ago, no idea."
A week later, I received a brand spanking new H7.2 torch as a replacement, latest model and more expensive than the one I bought, no questions asked. If I were to nit-pick it's bulkier and heavier than my original, but in terms of service I was absolutely blown away.
Second is Outwell. Purchased a tent from Leisure Lakes, and one of the fibreglass poles snapped instantly during its inaugural pitching. Fortunately it came with a spare piece so I could actually pitch the tent, though I'd to cut the shock cord and hacksaw down the spare to the right length. Rang LL and they said they'd need to defer to Outwell. Took a couple of weeks and LL's communication was non-existent, but a complete replacement pole set for the whole tent has just arrived. So, yay Outwell (and thanks LL).
What've you got?
Hope have replaced the lead to my 4 year old 4 cell battery again , no quibble or questions asked and 3 days later its in my hands and ready to use again... love Hope for this type of service, hence they will get my business again.
I'll add AllTools from whom I purchased a Table Saw. Foolishly, I tried to get it delivered to my storage unit, which while they accepted it as a dispatch address during the online purchase, they rang me first thing the next morning to explain why they don't deliver to storage units, which while a slight inconvenience for me, is probably the right thing to do. The blade surround insert had a small part snapped off at one end. I emailed a picture. The new blade insert was ordered from Bosch and sent to me and had arrived three days after I'd notified them of the problem.
As many threads on here show, it's not always the getting-stuff-to-you-quickly that's the hard part, it's sorting you out when something goes wrong from time to time which is the true mark of customer service (IMO).
I'm a big fan of Thomann.de for audio stuff. Bought a radio mic from them a few years ago and it stopped working within the warranty period (which they extend for free). I just sent them an email, they emailed back a pdf of an international freepost mailing label to stick on the box. Posted it off and a couple of weeks later it comes back repaired. It's funny when a process working as it should seems excellent but it was excellent
Oakley deserve a mention for excellent customer service. I snapped an arm on my Flak Jackets twice, first time I was given a new complete frame free of charge, the second a new pair of replacement arms (both times I was enquiring as to where to buy the replacements and not looking to blag a freeby)
I also recently purchased a pair of Bottle Rockets, The coating on the lens seemed to wear off in places, one email later and they were sending me a new set of lenses no questions asked.
The distributor Paligap went well above and beyond recently for me. Excellent work! 🙂
RM.
John Lewis usually come up with the goods. Bit middle class and boring perhaps but it all just works. I love the model, the sales people own the company and they make sure they know their products and give you good service as they have a vested interest.
I took a kettle back after 4 yrs once, it had failed at the switch and water leaked out. I took it back in a tesco carrier bag, no box, no receipt. They said, yes, we sold those here once. Sorry for your inconvenience, please choose a kettle to a similar value. I chose a kettle similar that was a few quid more expecting to pay the difference but they waived the charge. Amazing service always.
The price match thing they do is also great. Have had some amazing bargains with random internet price searches. At JL. They are usually pretty competitive anyway but will always price match.

Prendas
Always top quality kit, some good bargains if you keep an eye on the sale stuff and brilliant postage service. If you want help with sizing they answer the phone and really know their stuff
ViewRanger. Always super quick replies to any problems and always adding to the features on their software.
+1 for Viewranger , frst started using it on a Nokia N95 and I have been able to transfer my original
maps over to the half a dozen phones I have owned since
Despite some very average service from their other branches the Pprtsmouth branch of Speedy hire, and Liam in particular have been excellent the last few weeks sorting stuff out for various sites I'm currently running. Actually call back when they say they will, making sure unusual stuff I need gets sorted quickly and not treat us like an inconvenience just because we are a smaller account holder.
Audi Crawley.
Ordered a bonnet catch for under £2, but it's for LHD cars.
Parts guys spends hours over the coming weeks jumping through Audi HQ hoops.
I go in to order a dipstick, plus full set of pads and discs.
Whilst collecting, parts guy takes photos of the offending catch fitted to my car (without my prompting on progress), to show his superiors.
Proceeds to give me 30% off the order I've come to collect, saving me over £80.....all for a sub £2 part, which Audi are now remaking for me!
