It's not enough that English voters might have given us a Tory government, they're trying to give us the blame too 😆

Why I laugh? 3 beers, a good gig, and I am a total lightweight. Innes and Gunn is orrible though.

Desperately don't want the Jockanese to have any say on the forming a coalition UK government. Especially with that red ****.

I have half a keg of homebrew left, plus the cooking sherry if things get desperate.

So it's Scotland's fault for scaring the English into voting Tory?

No suggestion of blame. But my opinion is without the perceived SNP 'threat' Labour would have won more English seats and would have won.

Pure opinion, of course.

May have overdone it with the port. Legs feel kinda funny - I'm expecting Henry VIII style sores in the morning. Damn that high sugar content. 🙁

Peston, nooooo....where is Flanders when you need her.

Consoling Ed?

Exit poll increasingly looks right according to the polling companies on twitter.

Anecdotally, I know of a number of people who are died in the wool labour and Lib Dem voters who have done just that. Including most of my family. It makes me rather sad.

Up bright and early and that exit pole is a bit of a surprise, be interesting to see how this pans out.

So it's Scotland's fault for scaring the English into voting Tory?

Rubbish. This election, like most of them, is won or lost in England.

Country 2013 review
England 502
Wales 30
Scotland 52
Northern Ireland16
Total 600

Wonder why that is

Do you not believe that many English swing voters dislike the SNP? Why do you think the Tories were so keen to get Ed to commit to some sort of potential deal with them? You're right about where the election is won and lost in terms of seats, but incorrect to assume that people in England pay no attention to what's going on up North. Unintended consequences and all that.

tom harris more or less conceded glasgow south there, hearing that the SNP has probably took rutherglen as well, which I'm stunned about.

58 SNP is possible, tbh I wouldn't be surprised if the 1 left was a tory! 😆

tbh if this is a big a rout as that, if labour are to have any hope of a recovery and keeping any seats at holyrood next year, they are going to have to become independent from the london party.

Rumours Jim Murphy is getting papped out on his ear!

Have fun with your eventual independence and *sarcasm on* all that oil wealth *sarcasm off*

Good to know that Scots didn't actually want to influence Westminster, just break away.

Dumfries & Galloway could go to Finlay Carson (local Tory to me-only 4miles away......EEEK 😯 imagine that?), lots of support from the farming, retired community.

Well then, it's either stupidity or they've swung over to independence.

Take your pick, we'd have been better off without them.

I don't really know how this works, so forgive my ignorance, but given what has happened to the lib dems tonight (If exit poll is to be believed), why on earth would any other party go in to coalition with the tories again?

Far closer to Cardiff than London here, and solidly Tory (looking at the results coming in, likely to be a huge Tory majority, though probably Labour in second - the Labour candidate has actually had the best campaign - which is unusual)

Well I said I was going to bed when it was clear what was happening. Never imagined I'd be going to bed before 2am!

Seems to me the message is pretty clear. Both labour and the libdems have suffered from their alignment to the tories either directly in the libdems case or indirectly in labour's case. The libdems have lost votes to the tories, if there's no diffference people may as well vote for the real thing. Labour have lost votes to the SNP, UKIP and greens, if they're not different enough people will vote for alternatives. Maybe this election is evidence that parties should stick to their core principles and not try to ape other parties in pursuit of power? Having said that though, the BBC are already trotting out the line that labour aren't centrist enough. I fail to see how that's the case seeing as most of the damage has been done in Scotland.

Should be quite easy for English ConDems or even ConDUPs to issue dictats to the rebels up North. Off to bed...

Marr saying that he thinks Cameron may be the last British Prime Minister, sees the break up of the Union. Commentator saying that the campaign has be run in a negative fashion that looked to blame different demographics (eg scotland) and the unionist parties have failed in Scotland.

Yup, Balkanisation.
