My vango 2 man tent is on its last legs. It's got to be 10 years old and the stitching is starting to go. It was cheap. I dug out the other tent I own which must be 20 years old. Either the waterproofing is degrading or it is going mouldy. Think it might have been in the loft for 5 years without use. Either way don't want to risk it. It wasn't exactly expensive either.
I want a 3 man tent. Mainly free standing, dome type but I don't mind pegging out a porch. I don't want a tunnel or similar because they can be a pain on some campsites if it is hard to peg out. I'm never going to carry it but don't want something huge to pack away so a "pretend" hiking tent. Robust would be a plus. It will get used in bad weather but not on a mountain or in snow (I hope!).
About £200.
No idea where to even look. Alpkit don't have anything I like. Decathlon seem ok. Might look at Vango. Nature hike look nice but maybe a bit to light weight rather than robust. Just looking for a few ideas. Got a few weeks before the next event.
I’ve a kyham one I’ve had for over 15 years. Folds to duffle bag size, so not small or light, but is super easy to put up, can squeeze 4 in it and stand up in the porch bit. Still waterproof, it’s been out in some vile weather.
Decathlon are pretty good. We've had the 3 man pop ups (two) for years and years, and have just bought their cheap freestanding awning/store for when van camping. For Tenting we've a big Nordisk poly cotton bell tent.
Now three man for one or two I assume. Three is usually very cosy.
