You want one - they're way, way better than synthetic or down for temperature regulation.
Some smell of sheep (if the wool is 'raw' rather than washed, e.g. Baavet. Yes, Baavet).

You're asking the wrong person! We have Baavet cos we like the smell 😀 (we have three, for us and the kids).
You could also try Devon Duvets, as they may wash the wool before use. Both companies are small and nice to talk to. Not cheap, mind. Just not as pricey as down.
The sheep smell on the Baavet ones does go after a couple of months. It’s actually quite nice, although definitely a bit marmite, but it doesn’t last.
My Woolroom combi (one thicker, one thinner, use-them-together-for-winter) didn't smell of sheep.

Very much this. Ours is a Baavet from the bargain bin. A bit of sheepiness at the start but it wore off in a month. A shame as it was quite a soothing sensation being snuggled up with woolly creatures and dozing off
Ours is from the woolroom, one of the best things purchased.
During warmer days I aired it on the whirly gig after a good shake outside.
Warm in the winter, coolish in the summer. Good for the environment and ones health and all round win.
