laptops on its way out and i only ever use it 'online' anyway, no office stuff or games etc.
is a chromebook what i should be looking at? i only ever really use this site, facebook, gmail, and bog-standard surfing. possibly msn/icq too? can you use skype on them?
and if so, do they come in different specs, sizes etc? anything i should look for, or indeed avoid? any really nice looking ones, better graphics, faster etc?

I've used one for a year now and I'm a convert. If you use the net mostly you should be fine with one. There is now an impressive array of "apps".
Skype have just launched a Web based system so it's now possible to Skype on a Chromebook too.
He conscious though that if you need to install software for a Garmin maybe, or ITunes... You can't.
They seem to vary between 11" and about 14". Apart from that I found them to be all rather similar. Some reviews suggest that keyboards can be a bit marmite.
I have an HP in white. I love it.
