I have to buy a present for a family member for £25 and she has asked for some bottles of red wine. However, i know nothing about wine, what is a good one or how they vary. So, i need recomendations for some bottles (ideally 4 or 5), but she says no Shiraz. Help please!

6.4 bottles of Morrisons cheap stuff. Going down nicely here!

Go to marks and sparks and pick two or three bottles up, they are very reliable.

Maybe pinot noir or a northen Italian wine, which should be nothing like Shiraz.

Rioja (region) or any temperanillo or crianza, (grape) from Spain?

I'm not a Shiraz fan but love the above?

postage would be a bitch though John.... not sure how far the £25 goes though don't think 4-5 bottles is on the cards 🙂

This. Probably about £25. A tremendous chateauneuf du pape homage with the bigger hit of Barossa grapes. I remember this being the stand-out wine for me after 3 days of wine tasting.

edit - I've just re-read the brief and this does not match it at all really. Sorry... but it is really good!

Find fancy wine shop, look for something from Margaret River in WA, buy. By all accounts its very very good for reds. Though i suspect the really good stuff says in oz.

I shop at Lidl a fair bit and they do have some proper bargains, and increasingly nice high-end stuff. Quite a bit of dross as well though so you have to know what you're looking for I reckon.
