We will be in touch
My wife's 1973 beetle sits out in all weathers and, it turns out, isn't 100% waterproof.
Been looking at car covers and think a half cover (just roof and windows) will work best in terms of protection vs ease of fitting/removal (the cars used most days).
Anyone got any suggestions - I don't want a cheap plastic sheet - happy to pay for soemthing with a lining and that's breathable.
thanks
Luke
Do you cair about the paint or is this just purely to keep the water out?
primary goals are;
1) keep water out
2) easy for someone 4'11" to get on and off quickly.
but we don't want somethign that'll flap about and damage paint and it's not concours or 'owt so not too worried about it being int he elements.
here's the car;
I would have thought the colour would have scared the rain off? 😉
yes, I saw those Surf-Mat and they do look quite good (also Hamilton Classic)- they only seem to do full covers though?
A half cover sounds like a pain.
It'll need to be anchored, the pics i've seen use the door handles and not sure what they do front and back. I imagine they flap about a lot.
Happy to be proved wrong but I just cant see a half cover being anything other than a flappy mess.
It's also not a very good solution for everyday use, unless you clean the car virtually every day - otherwise the inside of the cover will pick up dirt from the car and then scratch it.
I've got a cover for my Land Cruiser, but only used it when I left the car in Greece for three months while I was back in the UK (the purpose for which it was bought). Then I was able to clean the car thoroughly before putting the cover on.
Do you know where the car leaks? Would it be easier in the long run to investigate that first?
around the rear window, the side windows or the vents I think - will need to get sorted as well but was hoping to postpone that until warmer weather.
you're right about dirt on the car - I guess that might be another argument for the half cover - at least we only have to worry about the roof.
