Just returned from Morzine with md80 camera with surprisingly good results. Problem is that a 2gd card filled with 20mins video. Now, I can't email or YouTube the video as the files are too large. How do I compress them or make them smaller file size. Also, if I burn to DVD will they play on a DVD player. Ta.

Handbrake should do it - allows you to set a target size for how big you want the file to be.

If you burn as a data DVD some DVD players will play it - otherwise it will need properly transcoding to DVD in something like iDVD or NeroVision - which can take a while.

You can use Movie Maker in Vista to convert it to wmv format which will be much smaller.

I presume that a reduced file size will reduce the quality?????
Just managed to use movie maker to import the avi footage then edit and record back to a dv camcorder through a firewire cable. no loss of quality so just need to burn to dvd and should be ok to share to my mates the old fashioned way....giving them a disc!!!!
