Any recommendations for some basic tech drawing software. I want to be able to measure dimensions and draw to scale but the whole CAD experience would be far in excess of my needs.
I couldn't really justify spending too much on it at the moment either.
Thanks if you can help.
solidworks ftw but costly
try google sketchup?
2d or 3d?
http://www.qcad.org/qcad.html for Autocad stylee but free, for personal use I think.
Try http://www.rhino3d.com/ Trial version but still £££ if for business
Solidworks have a free 2D product now, that looks reasonable, though I haven't tried it personally.

Also google sketchup might suit your requirements.
As a despiser of solid works, I would like to add that there is a lovely solid edge 2d drafting tool that I used to use all the time, very good it is too.
Free to all here, as long as you give up your details:

'Draft it' is very good, and free.

Thanks. To answer tomhughs, it'd be 2D. I'm likely to have a bit of time on my hands here at work over the coming quiet season and I'm a bit curious as to how similar the setups of my various bikes differ from each other and I also have a slightly unorthodox design for a 29er kicking round in my head.
