Anyone got any experience of a numbing cream that works and is available in the UK? I've heard of a few but they seem difficult to get hold of in the uk
I wouldn't bother when chatting about people and pain my tattooist told me it only works for a few hours then all the pain kicks in in one go. They don't hurt that much anyway. Well behind the knee did nip somewhat If I'm honest lol I've always been wary of any reaction I might have had with it too
But why? I always regard the pain as part of the process, not that I'd really call it pain, more like being scratched by brambles for a bit.
Anyway cream you mean may be Emla. Used a lot when cannula ting kids to numb pain. If using make sure apply in plenty of time to let it take effect, otherwise won't be much use 🙂 - https://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/emla-cream-5/prd-jt
I think the pain is part of it and I have more tattoos than most. But I'm having a back piece from my shoulders to the back of my knees and round my ribcage too. I'm booked in for another 10 hour session and after a few hours it starts to grind you down
Ouch, may need a few applications of cream then to keep ahead if it. Never had the cream I linked to myself but seems to work on cannulas and I've seen others apply it in tattoo studios. Sounds awesome tattoo size - good luck! .
Ah I see, despite my tattooist only doing big Japanese traditional he only books four hour sessions in as he thinks it's bad for the client and himself, although he did do me a seven hour stretch to finish something and I felt fairly rough afterwards , tho none of it was as bad as the lazer I had for six months first. Enjoy mate
One thing I have found brilliant for easy healing is saniderm if you haven't tried it it makes it so easy to heal definitely worth a look if you haven't tried it

10 HOURS!!! I was done by the time I'd done three hours. The detail work was fine but the shading got really really tiring after a while.
more like being scratched by brambles for a bit.
I felt the shading was more like being scratched repeatedly in the same place for several hours.
Firestarter mines a big Japanese piece too! Already got two sleeves, chest pieces and most of my leg all done. My back is all outlined and lots of background done already. Just finding my back harder to deal with than the others. Not sure if it's just the large area being done, or it being near to my spine either. Who knows?!
Apparently if you whack it on your knob it makes you last longer. Never tried it mind.
Similar to me. Sleeves chest full leg , but I'm building up to laser on the back lol I've done my arms previously before new sleeves but it's a lot of money and pain lol who are you with
I asked my tattooist about the numbing creams/gels when I got my upper arm done a few weeks ago. He said he really hated them as they've to turn the voltage up to pierce the skin and then when it wears off, which it always does apparently, the client really struggles.
Stick to making sure you eat well before, no sugary stimulants, or even caffeine and concentrate on your breathing 😉
Firestarter I'm with a guy called piers Lee in Worcester. It's definitely a lot of money! I didn't find my arms or chest painful at all but my back is.
does inside of wrist hurt? Kinda want one there but it's just skin and tendons and veins on my scrawny arms, no padding twixt

Not IME, it was one of the least painful areas. You need a decent artist if the veins are close to the surface as if they're a bit rough they may cause a scar (resulting in a white area) if they go too deep.
A good guide is the more ticklish an area, the more it's going to hurt. Side of ribs and inner side of top of your arms for example.
I've seen some of his stuff nice work. My guy is fil wood in Leeds.
I seem to remember by back being sore on the spine everywhere else is not too bad. Lazer hurts like hell though although I was getting big areas done each time.just below the Back of knee was sore as well, can't beat traditional Japanese stuff
I’ve got a couple on the inside of both forearms, one around my right wrist, and one on the inside of my right wrist, and none were particularly painful, a bit irritating, but it all stopped quickly. I just took a couple of ibuprophen after each session.
Firestarter, Fil wood does some great stuff. You'll have to send me a pic of your work
My chest piece was the worst imo. I wined a bit tbh!!
