I have a big birthday next week, so the weekend after next and I want to take my kids to London as a treat.

1) Looking for hotels in west london for easy acces from devon, with family rooms (2 adults 2 kids under 5), found premier inn and ramada both for 80 ish a night, which is fine, but wondered if you have any recommendations..

2) Doing natural history museum - dinos and that , go past buck palace and then winter wonderland rip off in hyde park - are there any other must do for two little disney princesses?

Thanks in advance.

The eye always goes down well, book in advance and visit Hamley's.

We did the same thing in September with my little lad (4.5 at the time). We found the Science museum a bit more exciting than the National History museum - particularly the basement which is all set up for under 5s fun.

Open top bus trip went down well.

Wouldn't fancy the eye much with little ones as it's slow and there's usually a bit of a wait. Young man also enjoyed looking around the Royal Mews - carriages, horses, etc.

We stayed at the Premier Inn at Earls Court - outside the congestion zone but no car park. Free parking on streets after 5.00 on Saturday. Handy for the tube and a few restaurents dotted about.

Enjoy!

Science museum and National History Museum are a must, London Dungeon is ace too. Hamleys at this time of year is great. Covent garden for Saturday evening.

Did these with my son and his friend for his birthday and they loved it.

Am I the only dad in London who HATES Hamley's?

Science Museum is tremendous, I'd go there rather than NHM but both if you have time.

Winter Wonderland or whatever its called is (you are right) a total rip-off, I really wouldnt. Good old walk around Green Park, St James, Trafalgar Square then noodles in Chinatown or Soho (Satsuma on Wardour St).....British Museum?

If the weather is clear the best afternoon out in London is to walk the length of the South Bank from Waterloo to Borough Market or visa versa, loads going on, great food the whole way down. Carry on a bit further to the Design Museum at Butlers Wharf.....

And Greenwich! Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum are fab.
