YGM Jon - Down to 185 lbs.

Cut out "sugar in hot drinks" two weeks ago and it made a difference very quickly. I was probable eating 14 teaspoons of sugar a day in tea alone.

I'm keeping track of my weight daily in an Excel worksheet and although the line is predictably spikey, it's good to see the overall downward trend.

Im back on the waggon this week. Been a rubbish couple of months personally which has meant no biking and lots of late night take aways and rushed meals.

Re-setting my goals based on this mornings weigh-in and going for a ride in the sunshine.

Exactly the same as a fortnight ago, which was the same as the fortnight before.

I think I may have plateaued. Unless my scale is broken.

Time for a re-think I suppose.

Down a couple of lbs. Hit my first landmark of a stone off which is nice.

Shoulder OP on 28th, well if I can shift this stinking cold I've had all week, so imagine the loss is going to slow up for a bit.

Some great news there, especially Grenosteve (fistpump!). Throwing away old big clothes feels really good.

Hopefully under the magic 200 when I weigh tomorrow, which will be another 5lb off, and 28lb off overall.

Hmm. Lost a gnats since last week (85.4kg from 85.6), but that's after 84.6 at the last official weigh in the week before ๐Ÿ™

I'm not surprised TBH, diet the last week was terrible, this week it's been better but not brilliant. Ah well, play the long game...

Put 4lb back on of the 9lb I'd lost!

I also :/

Haribo & bread found their way back into my daily(!) life :/

I'm too all or nothing to play the long, sensible game - back to starvation mode for a couple of weeks for me...

Maybe us 40 somethings are asking a bit much of ourselves seeking 6-packs!! If you offered me my new weight, with a little bit of a belly, for the rest of my life I'd be VERY happy.

How about some before/after photos after 3 months? Lycra acceptable, naked/topless not!!!!

Static against 2 weeks ago.

NOt quite sure how to feel about it - not really disappointed as I thought it would be worse. Last two weeks I've really lost the discipline I had through Jan.

And I think I know what it is. Since end Jan, been back on the booze. And it seems I'm a 1-0/all or nothing type. Too many (say, 5 out of 7 nights/week) having a drink - not silly amounts - but too regular.

But seems to do a couple of things:-
I snack (packet of crisps or some peanuts with a glass of wine/beer
I seem to lose discipline - "well I'm having a glass of wine, so why not have some crisps" type of thing

So decided to do Modest March and cut the booze. Should be a kickstart

Try cutting some carbs. I'm also a black/white kind of dieter, and this really works for me, as my numbers show ๐Ÿ™‚

Nothing, and that's despite finally getting out riding since the last weigh in. Exercise it's not good for you.

No change for me. I'd say increased exercise but poor diet have balanced perfectly!

To everybody who is struggling with a slow down or slight increase just stick with it.

It will start to go again

This is the real test, push on through !!

She'd need a big ramp, at least 160mm of rear suspension travel , some body armour and a bucket load of brave pills.

I'm a big lad.

Still the same weight as last time, so 9ib off overall.

I'm not too fussed though as it was my birthday, and a weekend away which involved

a) Beer
b) Pies
c) Burgers
d) More beer
e) Wine
f) Cheese
g) Pizza
h) More beer

All in all, not putting everything back on again was a positive

Back on the wagon again, and just off out on the bike now

Yay! 3lbs down over the 2 weeks, which makes my total weight loss 1st 1lb.

9lbs to go. Now I'm exercising, I'm hoping that will steadily drop off.

Flat lining since operation. Excuses lack of being able to cycle and work travel last week. Need to pull my finger out and get back on it.

Some more tail up trim then Dan, nice work. Can I ask what weight you where in that Rio picture you posted a while back ? You looked a lot under 200.

Managing steady 1lb a week so happy about that 80.2kg to 78.2 - looking forward to getting out riding soonish. Knee rehab sessions have helped a lot.

Jambalaya - I've always had big strong legs, so don't necessarily look my weight. I was probably 215-220 in that photo. . I haven't been under 200lb in 20 years!! Even at 220lb+ I could comfortably churn out 100km on the road bike, so basic fitness never a problem, just carrying too much timber. I do ok until it gets steep, then it's a lot to drag upwards.

The whole "exercise to lose weight" conundrum is interesting. Last year, I exercised more than I ever have - riding twice a week and a circuits class. No weight shifted. This year I took a hard look at my diet, as that had to be the issue. The results are there to see!

I've done naff all exercise, other than walking, and found weight loss to be more manageable.

I think mentally, when we exercise hard we think we need to eat something energy packed. I'm getting into fasted exercise at the moment. Twice this week I've gone for a run (1 x slow with my wife, 1 x 30sec sprint intervals) in the morning fasted. I've also done a 75km hilly ride recently on a bowl of porridge, no food on the bike, just zero cal vitamin water.

Same here, planning to hit the gym again once I've shed some pounds. Anyway a bad two weeks for me post valentines but ready to get back on the wagon.

I'm toying with the idea of returning to the gym, at least to do a bit of lifting aimed at improving my core strength and posture. I can do all this at home, of course, but there is something about going to the gym that somehow installs a bit of discipline into me, even though it's a faff because I have to drive there. It's also handy to crack out some cardio if the weather is to rubbish for either cycling or running. They've also got a really good pool, and learning to swim properly is on my to do list. However, it ain't cheap.

In my experience, if a gym isn't extremely convenient you won't stick to going, but will be stuck with the membership.

Aye, I used to me a member of this particular gym, and only stopped going for reasons that no longer apply. I had intended to work out at home, but it just hasn't happened like it used to when I went to the gym. The good news is that their contacts are one month rolling, so if it doesn't encourage me like it used to, I could quit. But you're right that gym contacts are usually the spawn of Satan! ๐Ÿ˜†

When I lived really close to one in London, with a lovely pool (and before i had kids!) I used one loads. I've also kidded myself I will use one in less perfect circumstances, and paid a fortune.

Sounds like your one works for you, which is great. As above though, be careful of thinking you can exercise yourself thin.

My first day off this year today. It's my sons 9th birthday, and would have been my dads 70th but he fell a week short. Pub lunch with my family, and mum, so it's a "sod it" day today.
