hobnob wobble
The new dance sensation sweeping the land.
Still 242lb and just over a 15lb loss. Tomorrow has been designated as breakfast day, a big buffet breakfast to get things rolling and going out later for fancy waffles as a meal replacement.
176.6lb down 12lb from 1st Jan and only 0.6lb from March target. But a big meal out tomorrow may set me back a bit.
Thanks to Jonv for organising this. Having gone from 89kg to 71kg for the Pru ride in 2015 I knew I was getting/ had got porky again. I was always intending to reduce work canteen and vending machine trips, but never did. This has been the impetus needed.
Erm, no change since the last weigh-in.
One bad week and one good, must have cancelled each other out - bit surprised though as I was feeling a bit lighter and faster on the bike.
2lb off.
I was away for 6 days in the last two weeks with endless conferences. Diet mainly consisted of cured red meat, processed red meat, and endless mini lemon tarts and chocolate muffins.
Not quite what I had intended.
Im down 9lbs, so dead chuffed
helped by smaller portions and loads more veg with meals
wife is full veggie and does my dinner
so tonight had tuna steak with courgettes, cauliflower, carrots, baby tomatoes and baby sweetcorn, and a few boiled tats
thats about as healthy as i get
off to belgium next weekend, and pain weekend after, so a bit of beer will have to be drunk. but will try not to fuel myself on haribo (standard road trip fodder)
@dan and @greno congrats some big numbers
I was pleasantly surprised to be down another 1lb. Ahead of very modest target, time to start measuring my food out. Doing 3 physio sessions a week now, 15 mins easy static bike and 30 mins of sweat inducing knee work on the hydraulic Cybex machine.
I'm 2lb heavier, tough week at work, lost focus.
still 3.5lbs lighter than your Jan target, so the last week doesn't matter - keep playing a long game.
5lbs lost so far - bang on target. Not noticed the difference round my middle yet, but climbing on the bike is starting to feel a touch easier.
Something strange seems to have happened over the last week . . . .
I'm down almost 5lbs in total so far, which is OK - I did plan on going the "slow and steady" route and I'm not hugely overweight to start with.
For the first three weeks I:
1) Tried to stop eating whole packets of biscuits and/or sweets whenever I felt like it.
2) Stopped eating "everything Mrs Spekkie cooked". Now I just have a normal portion at meal time and the rest is "left-overs" for another meal.
3) Replaced Toast & Jam for breakfast with an apple.
I still take sugar in my tea, drink coke with my eve meal and we eat a varied diet, which includes some "dodgy stuff" I suppose, but I'm OK with that.
First two weeks were hard - struggled to break the habits but I got there.
Third week was fine - stuck to the new routine and even began enjoying it as the weight slowly came off.
Fourth week - everything changed. - I'm just not hungry. Cup of tea for breakfast, something very small at lunchtime - a small piece of ham and a piece of bread generally (we live in Spain) and then a proper meal in the evening, by which time I am am hungry.
I'm active during the day on our neighbours farm (trail building/cutting firewood etc) I just don't get hungry.
It's kind of nice, but I'm also a bit worried 'cos it's not normal?
Also, my toilet habits have changed from "regular and predictable" to "spasmodic"?
Mrs S suggests the cut down on Sugar has slowed my tummy action down?
Anyone else with similar happening to them?
I now poo every other day, and quite happy not eating till 6pm.
Oddly, if I eat earlier it actually makes me more hungrier.
Weird.
Have I mentioned where I'm going tonight and what I'll be eating?......
Just back from a ten mile walk over Lantrigg, and psychologically preparing myself for my first pastry based food item of 2017, in the cathedral to pie that is the George Hotel. Bow down before the cow pie chub clubbers!! ๐
Clubbers? I'm up for necking a load of 80s whizz and losing weight that way.
Not looking forward to the day after tho...

Pretty much how I'm feeling today... Wouldn't recommend it. Got to bed at 8:30 this morning and have lost 2lbs since Friday*.
Hopefully fish, chips, curry sauce and stout** will make me feel something like normal again.
*Feels like it was all water
**Not all in the same bucket
Quick tot up, and as predicted the initial enthusiasm of 74 members has waned somewhat, with 'only' 58 providing weigh-in 2 info. That means 16 'fallers' but of those two didn't even give weigh-in 1 info.
That said - the 58 still with us, collectively we've lost 457 lbs = nearly 33 stone (or 206kg) which is about 60lbs ahead of target so far.
Some have smashed it so far - don't get disheartened if the losses slow in the coming weeks. And if you haven't smashed it yet, remember that slow and steady is what we're aiming for.
Great job so far!!

We will feast on the fallen.
Binners! Get the pastry! We're gonna make people pie!
We're gonna make people pie!
Somewhat preferable to a man sandwich
We're gonna make people pie!
Do NOT try the sausage rolls.
20 lbs lost since New Years Eve - cut out bread, sweets and alcohol; 4 lbs lost in the last week
Somewhat preferable to a man sandwich
A manwich ๐ณ
Do NOT try the sausage rolls.
Well done Y'all! The fact my wife is doing it with me - armed with planners and spreadsheets - certainly is helping me. I've just been reading up on low carb endurance cycling, which sounds interesting. I'll be giving it a go in San Francisco next week. The consensus is endurance is fine, as your body is burning it's own fat, but sprint power will be down. As expected I guess.
Just thinking out loud, but would it be possible to slightly adjust targets?
If it's too much trouble, then don't worry about it, but as things stand, due to doing quite well so far, I have 8 weeks to lose 4lbs. Not saying that's easy, but could probably do with setting a slightly harder goal.
By all means, just make it clear what you want to revise to in an email to me with your STW name and I'll amend the target.
Poor weekend for me.
Exercised well, did my longest ever run Saturday morning and a solid 45 minute turbo blast on Sunday night.
Sadly, the bit in between was messy. Beers and lots of crisp followed by a huge meal Saturday night, Sunday was a BIG breakfast followed by grazing all day. However, I have a reasonably sensible week ahead planned, albeit Saturday has potential to be heavy. Also giving blood on Thursday so that's a pound gone for a start.
Had a slightly bad (by choice) weekend, Friday, Sat and Sun I've done 2400ish kcals a day, but did ride for an hour on sat morning.
Enjoyed a pub burger, half a big pizza, toasted teacakes for breakfasts, some fish and chips, a 'few' JD and (diet)cokes and a some sugary treats. ๐
Still 111.9 kg this morning, so not put anything on sine Friday, but enjoyed the well deserved treats after smashing it in January.
Back on it for Feb now, and looking to get very close to 100kg by the end of March.
Binners, that pie looks amazing! ๐ฏ
Spekkie, I'd try and cut the sugar right down, have sugar free fizzy drinks and lean to enjoy tea/coffee without sugar.
By all means, just make it clear what you want to revise to in an email to me with your STW name and I'll amend the target.
Sent.
Now watch me miss all the new targets ๐
No Pie update Binners?
At Monday circuits the instructor had her dreaded fat scales ๐ฅ
Body fat down to 17%, water holding steady, maintained muscle mass.
So I'm 20lbs down, maintained water and muscle mass!! 17% body fat drops me into the top end of "fitness active"!!
Pie update:
After avoiding pastry for a month, the cow pie was worth the wait. As amazing as ever, and even though I opted for mash instead of chips, I still felt like I'd eaten a sofa, and lapsed into a food coma.
Back on the wagon again today, and just off out for another big walk. If I can get Mrs Binners out of Lakeland Plastics. And that's a big if! ๐
Put a bit of weight back on.. (still, it was a stupid initial amount to lose)
Belt still 2 notches tighter
Not riding much so gonna try this Zwift malarky
I opted for mash instead of chips,
You're dead to me.
Away with at a mates Friday and Saturday which may have involved alcohol, takeaways and hog roasts, domestic duties Sunday, and a stinking head cold today that has postponed the planned catch up ride.
Still, with my nose pouring snot like Niagara Falls in the rainy season, I figure that there should be some weight loss going on, somehow.
Not part of the club, but lost 12lb (down from 13st 7lb) in 3 weeks by stopping drinking, cutting out processed crap and generally eating a bit less
Jamie - MemberI opted for mash instead of chips,
You're dead to me.
Thats easy for you to say. You don't have to live in this pit of self-loathing. I just don't know who I am any more ๐ฅ
Got my good lady to measure me and since the beginning of Chub club, I've lost 1.5cms round my neck, 7cms round my waist and 4cm from my hips. I had noticed this, as most of the fancy pants clothes* that wouldn't fit properly on new year's Eve, the event that spured me to join Chub club, now do. So I'm starting to see positive results over and above the on paper weight loss.
* I admit to being a bit of a clothes tart. I blame it on being a mod in my youth.
January Strava climbing challenge done! ๐
That's one of my new year goals done, next is sub 100kg and riding to the coast (130km).
Seem to be holding steady now, despite same reduced cals & exercise
I think I've entered .....
..The Plateau Zone!!
Great work guys... keep it up !
GrenoSteve - nice work!
Great fat shedding results chub club!
I've had the lurgy for a fortnight which came with a free 12 day headache for no extra charge. Back on the eating wagon this week, hoping to get the exercise back on track in the next couple of days. Looking back at my sickness record in work, it seems I'm always sick in January, so I'll take it on the chin and take solace from the fact that it's now February.
Happy eating and moving STW CC ๐
Yay! Now into week 5 of my 5:2 regime, and as predicted a page or two back it has become 'normalised' - the first couple of weeks were strange but 'interesting strange' because you could convince yourself that hunger was doing you good.
The next 2 are hard because you're still finding times when you are hungry but the novelty's worn off.
We're now in the phase where this is the 'new normal' so it's neither strange nor hard, it just 'is'.
Yay! Now into week 5 of my 5:2 regime,
So is this one of the weeks you can eat out of the 5?
With 5:2, you after aren't hungry either the morning after a fast, when you think you might wake ravenous!
In all seriousness, I tried the 5:2 once after the Michael 'I Like Money' Mosely doc. It think I took the eat what you want on the off days a little bit too literally, so didn't really work.
ive fallen off. Going well but over the last 2 days ive eaten about 6 mini chocolate rolls.
gutted
Wifey away tonight, so it's the traditional excuse for an Indian takeaway and film of my choice.
So, instead of my usual calorie-dense curry, I'm going to go for tandoori chicken instead. Quite looking forward to it to be honest ๐
