A few times over the last few days I've had spoof/gambling sites load when on STW anyone else?

I was repeatedly getting "tracker.gov.js" download prompts when browsing stw on wp10 last week.

I have.
One telling me I've been selected for a free app and another for testing the iPhone 7!

I just got a page saying my battery was damaged and needed to click on a highlighted link.
Was I wrong not to?

there is a flash ad that hogs the processor and causes the fan on my laptop to go crazy.
no i’m not going to subscribe to view content to fix that. its the one with a woman walking across the room, no idea what she is selling.

I've tracked the iPhone7 pop up one to the Widget in the RH column for our social media feeds - currently set to show tweets from Fort William.

That widget also serves an ad underneath and is a tool provided by one of our network partners called Crowdynews. They are aware of the issue and thanks to those who sent me screen grabs from their phones last night as that's helping them weed out the rogue ad.

That widget we are planning on using a lot over the weekend on this page here http://singletrackworld.com/stwfortbill as part of our World Cup coverage. If you go there now on an iPhone or tablet you will probably get the pop up after a few page refreshes. The guys at Crowdynews (gotta love that name) have told me that if they can't extract the rogue ad by the end of today then they will turn off the ability for the widget to display ads to iOS users completely until they find it.

As for instances of redirects or popups on desktop browsers, I think that's a separate issue to this iOS targeted ad. Please send me screengrabs if that happens to you on a desktop/laptop browser and include the right hand column if possible as that will give me a clue as to where to look. What you tend to find is that one of the ad positions on the page will remain empty when the popup occurs as that's actually where the code is being delivered.

The widget in the RH column at the moment has been set to target only desktop browsers at the moment to eliminate as many mobile users as possible until we find the bastard.

Keep reporting issues direct to me - mark@singletrackworld.com and I'll try my best to kill them to death.
