Oh Wrecker ๐Ÿ˜€ you forgot where he said other teams didn't compete properly. That's why he is a whinging cockwomble ๐Ÿ˜† maybe if england hadn't butchered so many chances ๐Ÿ˜†
Here is his quote

Massive credit to the French for the way they fronted up for this game and for the way they played, compared to a few other countries.

Only read the BBC headline.
Honest question for you duckers; are scotland better than that performance yesterday? The entire pub I was in were cheering them on but they were absolutely terrible, certainly worse than the names on the teamsheet (including the coaching staff) would suggest.

Ah, it's only human nature to look for others to blame. Twitter was full of fans of various sides blaming other losing teams for capitulating, folding, lying down, giving up, etc etc. Just bluster as the emotions of the day die down. But if it suits one's prejudices to read so much into it, fill yer boots. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm not blaming anyone, I don't really care very much. 2nd is a fair reflection of where England are, and you won't find me complaining. I'm not convinced that last and clutching the wooden spoon is where Scotland are or should be though.
Glasgow sitting on top of the pro12, and having mauled Bath twice. A very good coach in Schmidt, and a good FH (at last). Yet they were so poor, it's not even the results; the performances were dreadful. I honestly thought they were going to come alive and batter someone but they just got worse.

Glasgow have a number of imports in key positions.

rascal - Member

Just watched that Lawes clip.
No-one can defend that - looks like actually he sped up after the ball was released.
Admittedly I didn't see it actual speed in the context of the game

It's not a great argument rascal. In fact it's right up there with Murray Mexted's:

"That's amazing! In the slow motion replay he seems to hang in the air EVEN longer!"

He could have easily pulled out of it or softenned it.

They both do a good angry face. I think Liam is more mental though.

I think it is silly to suggest that Scotland intentionally lost by a given margin, they played, they played badly and yes the scoreline was a surprise given some of the other performances they have put in. But it was the last game of the tournament, they looked tired, they had a few players out injured and they were still very evidently trying to score right down to the wire.

I'm speaking as someone who was cheering England on, had they done enough to win every game then they wouldn't even be in a position to complain that other scores lines cost them a championship, simple as that.

I can't really comment about how bad Scotland were as I was at the above location at approx half time on Sat. I have taped it but am very unlikely to watch it. We have a decent set of players, however any loss of form or injury means we are stuffed. If you put every adult male rugby player in Scotland into Welford road,it wouldn't even be half full.

Liam Williams is a good player. Pushing 1/2p for the full back place. Liam is about 22 Brown is what 29? Wouldnt swap them. I always get the impression you only watch English rugby Wrecker. Liam has been the best full back in the pro12, he is very good.

Liam Williams is a good player.

I know he is. So is Brown. But people (including apparent england "fans") have very short memories. Brown was the best FB in the 6N last year by some distance. Williams doesn't get much game time for wales. So, what would you base a comment like "he's a better player" on?
Not a lot.

Liam Williams is a much better player than I thought he was going to be, real breakthrough season for him 1/2 should move to wing then he might be concussed less.

are Scotland better than that performance yesterday?

No they are awful and yesterdays' performance confirms that. Lost every single game. Lost to Italy, lost to an England that should have put more on them and then finally destroyed by an Ireland team that have shown little ambition all tournament. Scotland knew Ireland would be fired up and yet in front of their home crowd were 10 points down by 11 minutes. Pathetic really. Italy while imploding earlier in they day were at least in it at half time.

Biggest worry if your a Scot's fan is they play their rugby in all the wrong areas and seem to lack leadership. Unless they address that, then they'll be 'winning' the wooden spoon for years.

Brown being very average this season and Williams being very good?
Not defending it as such as I rate Brown, but its certainly debatable. Many in Wales think Liam should start ahead of 1/2p who is an exceptional full back. Brown is at his peak too whilst Liam should improve.

Brown has played well at quims, in a fairly weak team (by their standards). Missed 2 6N games through concussion, and to be fair few of the england team have covered themselves in glory this comp (perhaps JJ and BY). It is entirely debatable, but I'd say that Brown has plenty of proven form and could well continue to improve. I'd certainly still pick him over Williams and if we leave out the place kicking, 1/2P too.

1/2p is ver very good. He has a massive job in the Wales defensive structure covering huge amounts of ground with wingers pushed up. His defensive work and positional play and skill under the high ball mean he'd be on my lions teamsheet first. Thats before we consider kicking. He missed a few relative sitters this championship. I'd have Biggar and his twitchy shoulder take most kicks and 1/2p take the long range ones for Wales. Biggar has unerring accuracy. If I wanted an attacking fullback I'd have Hogg over Brown.

Haven't even done team of the tournament yet.
That one from The Times that I posted above had 4 Italians in it and no one said anything.

And if I wanted a strategic FB, I'd pick Kearney over 1/2P!
Biggar is 3rd in line for a Lions shirt at best.

Kearney at fullback is just rancid trolling though.

The English bench warmer? Third in line behind Farrell and George "I can't hit a banjo with a barn door" Ford?

Two hookers on the bench?

Armitage? Really? Fitness would be a massive issue I would think.

The only definites for me on any team sheet now are AWJ and POC. Utterly superb performances from both throughout the tournament.

If only there were three second rows, I would also put Girafferis in there as well. Defensively he was fantastic.

twas a joke. I reckon Biggar has been Wales best player this season. Just think Ford offers more in attack. Sexton I picked on reputation. Hasnt been much cop this season.

Youd need to be a certain kind of special to put biggar before ford.

A lions team?
Ireland plus JJ and North. Maybe robshaw and warbs.
Far too early though. The RWC will be the test.

Yeah I know but to the victor the spoils. Plus I hadn't thought about it, as I said it's too early.
A 6n team could be fun though.
