I'm an idiot because i didn't make a recovery disc and now a fairly new hardly used laptop (windows 8)has frozen. It did an automatic update after which it lost some functions on a user account.I did a system restore to a point before the last update and the damn thing has frozen. A a hp emblem and a ticker on the screen just cycle around endlessly.
I'll be grateful for some assistance. Nick
If you mash F8 on boot, you should get a menu up. One of the options there will be 'repair my computer' or similar. Run through this first, it'll try and automatically repair it. Let us know how that goes and we'll go from there.

Er, a "refresh" will wipe everything and put it back "as new" - you know this right? Bit late if not...!
