Anyone recommend a good online skate / scooter shop for stunt scooter wheels?
Looking for something of decent quality for my 10 year old's scooter as the rear tyre has disintegrated in just 3 months of pavement and light ramp use.
I know nothing about how the pricing /quality is measured here so feel free to educate me.
Skate hut.
£22 give or take
Is it just the bearings that have collapsed? My son goes through a set every couple of months following daily use.if so just get some off the bay - 2 mins to swap out.
Yep, we got some ABEC 9 bearings for £9 for a set of 4
Thanks all.
He's ripped the actual rubber tyre bit to pieces. There's a section half the size of my little finger that's ripped out back to the rim.
I can see bearings but not tyres online but again feel free to set me straight if that's wrong.
Thanks
My son used to skid loads and his rear tyre ended up with a small number of massive flat spots, to the point that it didn't roll so much as bounce from point to point.
I bought half a dozen cheap wheels on AliExpress with the hardest compound I could find (88A - I think there are harder ones but I couldn't see any in the right wheel size) and then sold them to him one at a time as needed. I think they were under a tenner each.
It's not a tyre but a whole wheel you need. Tbh you would be better speaking to a real person who knows about this, different wheels are suited to wood, concrete and generally crap pavements. The 88A is the durometer reading, same as Maxxis use. Lower number is a softer compound but sometimes higher is better when grinding. Like I said, speak to a real human and support your local skate shop (if they are open).
Also, if someone is knackering bearings every couple of months buy better bearings. You wouldn't put crap on a bike and put up with it would you?
