I think you and I both know that Binners is getting his mayonnaise from a jar, not making it from scratch.

Doesn't matter. Jar mayonnaise isn't made from boiled eggs, either.

On that we can agree my friend; mayonnaise, either fresh, spooned from a jar or squeezed from a bottle, is most definitely not made from boiled eggs

However, mon amis des oeufs, an egg mayonnaise sandwich, which is BinnyBinBins was having, is.

The egg mayonnaise and ham butty was lovely. Ham carved off a joint cooked yesterday. I am in agreement with @IHN about egg mayo being greatly enhanced with the addition of salad cream though, but then so many things are. Mayo and salad cream both have to be Heinz though. Condiments are the one area where the supermarket own brand just won't cut it

Couple of things from over the years.

Pie sandwich - when we moved away from range stew. Good cheap Booker Steak and Kidney pie in between two slices of white with brown/red sauce.

*Chefs kiss

See also pasta sandwich. Usually fusilli pasta, with a tomato and meatball dressing.

Or the cheapest Asian chicken noodles, boiled almost dry and also stuck in between some bread.

Yesterday's lunch was cheese & onion crisps* between two slices of hot, buttered toast. Blimmin' crunchy loveliness.

*McCoy's ridged.

Made a big batch of home made cottage pie last week.  After freezing some and attacking the rest of it over a couple of days (including the occasional cold spoonful when passing the fridge)  there was only a small portion left.  Not quite enough for a meal. Unless...? 🤔

I nuked it in the microwave and spread it over a couple of thick slices of hot buttered toast.  Nom nom!

I'm standing next to @IHN on the poached egg front - absolutely awful!

If I'm out and ordering food and it comes with a poached egg, I ask for a fried egg instead...it is a supremely superior way to serve (fried) an egg!

Poached is just a way to make a watery egg even more watery... absolutely awful.

I love that IHN is still struggling to accept he's been out voted on his own thread, as being so so wrong toward poached eggs.

I'm happy to sandwich anything, any leftovers.. lasagne, chinese, indian takeaways even pizza.  So IHN goes and tops it with "I just invented the cauliflower cheese toastie. Thank me later." Jesus man what wrong with you?

The only good caulifower is in piccalilli, as there not enough cheese in the world to make it taste acceptable

PS: Mayo and salad cream, you've saved the money that Kewpie mayo costs.

What culinary credibility you may have had has now definitely disappeared, my brassica-bashing friend. Cauliflower cheese is excellent.

I will agree with you about the goodness of piccalilli though, it would be an excellent accompaniment to a cauliflower cheese toastie

And another one confirms they've never had a perfect poached egg.

To further destroy any remaining shreds of it, even my small batch, artisan, poncey, speciality coffee is letting me down!

Cauliflower cheese is excellent.

Dissing the brain-cheese should result in trial by combat, but the perpetrator only gets a spatula.

Warbies toastie ... Toasted and buttered and cut up into squares.

Pack of hotdogs with flavour not the weird chicken frankfurter things. Chopped up into lumps in a pan. Tin of decent baked beans emptied on top and the whole lot heated until the sausages are hot and the beans are cooked (ie not still runny).

Tobasco lobbed in.

Pile the toast, pile the beans and saus

Grate the cheese, retire to sofa with fork and a mug of tea.

It's magic combinations of ingredients isn't it.  The ones we go back to regularly are:

- Avodado on Toast, poached eggs, mango chutney.

- Kimcheese (Cheese and kimchi) toasted sandwich

- Tinned corned beef(*) toasted sandwich with Branston pickle

*Tinned corned beef is disgusting in untoasted sandwiches.

If you can taste the corned beef over the horseraddish and English Mustard its user error
