My work based local seems to have turned into the Ryanair of the pub world.

I'm not sure what's wrong here. Isn't a flat white more expensive than an americano at Starbuck/Costa etc?

You've definitely got something against coffee.

teadrinker

they saw your username and thought, "let's not only serve him coffee but charge him extra for milk"?

🙂

teadrinker is mad that they were charged 20p for milk.

Seems to me that Eva just pressed the buttons for americano + milk to get to £2.40 rather than pressing the white coffee button. Would be even more amusing if a white coffee is actually £2.60 and Eva was trying to be nice 🙂

I'd write to my MP if I could only see through this cloud of rage.

Why order an americano and then put milk in it?

I'm going out on a limb here...but it could be that he did order a white coffee, but Eva put it through the till in its constituent parts rather than just pressing "white coffee" 🙂

Does it take 90 minutes to get from your 'work based local' to your work?

Oddly enough, I was in that very pub last night. Can't remember if Eva served me or not, though.

I had that in France. Cheese salad was 15e. A green salad with a cheese plate extra was 10e. Waiter got some of the saving as a tip.

There is literally no beginning to the rage I'm feeling on the OPs behalf. We have the address, can we gather a mob to go see Eva and make her aware of here outrageous deed/congratulate her on saving the OP money?

Don't blame Eva, tom - she's just a poor unknowing cog in the evil capitalist machine, with no option but to serve mostly outraged tea and coffee drinkers in The Tokenhouse, Moorgate to feed her bottomless philosophy habit.

No, tom, blame the Tokenhouse. It must burn for this. 👿

I hear the OP's already signing up 20pwtf? as his obligatory second STW username.

No! Can't allow that! One of my occasional post-work watering holes, and purveyors of the rather lovely ESB.

I think we need pictures before we decide what we're going to do.

Is there any particular reason why I shouldn't.

Would I be breaking some sort of rule ?

Did they say to the bloke behind her

"Stand there, hold this and look blank"

She's not worth the wander 😉 (in my humble opinion)

I had no problem with the 20p - just never seen it done before. Couldn't understand why they didn't just charge £2.40 in the first place. I can't imagine going into Starbucks/Costa etc and then being charged extra for milk?

The reference to Ryanair was any excuse to charge for something extra.

I don't think they would have used Eva for promo work, but then saying that they used blank looking fella so why not. That was definatley not Eva though!

They do charge you extra for syrup, or different coffee, but not sugar.

For the second time this thread, I have to defend Eva.

In some circles, I hear she's regarded as quite the catch.*

* circles where you pay extra, obviously

Pending pics, obvs.

OP, you should have received an Eva loyalty card with you purchase - run up 20 "extra milks" and you receive something splendid in return, out back next to the bottle bank 😉

Unless it was the other girl, she's referred to as "wot-Eva" and you'll get nowt

To be fair its nothing like Ryanair

if it was they would have charged you an extra fifty quid for not printing your order out at home in advance!
