Been searching for a nice countryside/village hotel (or B&B near a nice restaurant) where me and my GF can go away for a short weekend break later May/early June including a bit of walking in picturesque hills or along the coast. Had been wanting to go abroad but lacking in days off and left booking it a bit late so got to keep to an over-night somewhere! Brecon beacons was my first thought but open to anywhere!
Happy to go all in or pay for accommodation and food separately, budgeting up to about £200 all in (One night, evening meal and breakfast included, ideally less) Ideally within 2 1/2 hours of Oxford.
Anyone know of any nice places out there that fit this description? Googling seems to bring up a minefield of mixed reviews!
The Wood Norton in Evesham is a great hotel. Amazing food as well.
The website is probably best to book through, they do good deals on there.
Cowley Manor, if you can get a deal.
To be honest, I'd have a look on TravelZoo, they have loads of hotel-room-with-dinner type deals
Or (and in typical STW fashion, not really what you asked for and outside your time limit), the Mrs and I stayed here:

Abso-chuffing brill. Really cute little place, two minutes walk from slap bang in the middle of one of the most spectacular beaches in the country, walkable to the pub in the village or do hat we did and take some stuff to cook, some nice wine, light the wood burner and snuggle up 😉
https://www.cotswold-inns-hotels.co.uk/the-bear-of-rodborough// is close to me, always seem to hear good things, I've only ever had a pint there.
Nice area for South Cotswolds walks, no ocean close though, you can visit one of the best farmers markets in the country on a Saturday (Stroud), hilly walking mind.
Manor House, Morton-in-Marsh
was very nice when we went; Oxford side of Cotswolds.
The Drawing Room, Cwm Bach near Builth Wells. Close enough to Brecon and Elan Valley.
Small, only 3 rooms, 10 seat restaurant with open kitchen.
Amazing food and super relaxed chilled atmosphere.
Just down the road from us. We go for a meal regularly.
If it was me I’d go here: https://hollowbottom.com
Not stayed the night but it’s a cracking family and dog friendly pub in a nice part of the world that we always try to stop at when over that way.
The Bear Crickhowell is lovely.
I had a great gravel bike ride the the owner of the Gliffaes Hotel between Brecon and Crickhowell. Completely off the beaten track and wirh a very good reputation. I haven't stayed myself mind as it is just down the road from me 🙂

Just checked their website and fear prices may be at top end of your budget!
Or, a bit of a curveball, but for your budget you could stay with my neighbours in the Priory. Something completely different and unforgettable, especially if the Tower room is still free.

You could give my friend Caron’s place a try, it has a unique connection to a Japanese animé series!

Colwall park hotel? Not mega s****y but good beer wine and food. Gray walking (or biking😉) out the door.
We stayed at the gliffaes a few yrs back. Nice traditional hotel in a great location near the Brecon Beacons. Lots of biking walking fishing etc day trip to hay on wye easy as well.
Good walking on the Malverns if you dont want to travel too far west.

Very well kept beers (5x real ales on pump), excellent food too.
This guy takes some nice (but twee) photos of the Malverns and their views to whet your appetite

Well we had 6 inches of snow yesterday and today it is flooding so not so great at the moment 🙂
We had a good time here fairly recently, really nice spot and good grub. Somerset, so not quite what you asked for but similar driving time.
