I need about half a dozen 4mm diameter 35mm long solid steel rivets. This is proving surprisingly difficult, partly because most of the places selling them deal in hundreds or thousands.

Any ideas?

I'm not building a steam train!

I think I'll just try phoning round a few suppliers and see if someone takes pity on me.

You may need to go imperial and size accordingly. I get mine from those guys

I see they keep their knobs between their non-corrosive balls and their lubricants.

eBay's usually good for stuff like that, but you might have to wait for delivery from China.

You're trying cake shops??

Are these real rivets or pop rivets? Pop rivets have to be hollow as the head pulls through a sleeve to expand it.

I got stainless steel rivets from eBay, not too expensive and much stronger than alloy.

Real rivets that you hammer to form a head.

Cromwell have exactly what I was looking for and not too expensive at £12.80 for 250! Given that it is to fix ice axes that cost about £170 each I think that's justifiable despite me only needing a few.

Thanks.
