Buy cheap uns. I really like my solar lights and it doesn't really seem to matter what you buy - they get knackered quickly.
B&Q cheapo ones that I can chuck away without feeling pained.....

My wife bought a couple from the poundshop, they have fell off the fence a few times and split apart. I have put them back together but still work fine after a couple of years.
Aye, we have some from Wilkinson's that are still good after a year. It does seem to be a lottery though.
When my wife bought them I thought they'd look awful but they actually look quite nice.

Having just designed some, there's nothing to them. If you manage to keep them upright enough to keep the water out of the electronics, they should last forever (assuming they get enough light to charge up)
One thing worth knowing, some of them use NiCd batteries, so they contain Cadmium. Please remove and place them in the correct rechargeable battery recycling centre when you're done with them as Cadmium is a very nasty heavy metal and groundwater pollutant and should never be landfilled 🙁
There's probably also lead in the solder, so they need to go in the electronics pile at the recycling too.
AFAIK mine will be on sale in Australia only, through Bunnings, branded Lytworx.
Whats the purpose of them?
They are never bright enough to see anything, they work for a few months and then stop working, and people soon forget about them ie you see them fallen over in gardens/not working
