Not the anonymous, one off, amusing posters.

I'm thinking of those regular, well known, individuals,
who despite obviously being genuinely disliked, continue to seek and revel in the disapproval of their peers.

They must ride with others? They must have friends?
Does no one actually tell them how much they are reviled?

It's a bizarre form of masochism, but they don't seek anonymity and are obviously happy for people to know who they are in 'real life'.

Why?

Saddly i am just really opinionated and in real life.

name and shame.

The prat from a few nights a go having a go about a cycling fire officer being killed goes to the top of the list.

Everyone deep down wants to be a big hitter on the U.K's premier MTB forum.
don't they?

despite obviously being genuinely disliked ...tell them how much they are reviled?
- a bit strong for an internet forum isn't it? Does this place really evoke those feelings in people - says more about the ‘sufferers’ than contributors IMHO.

At least they have balls if nothing else - It's the anonymous gobshit3s that do my head in.

Not really 🙂

I can understand the appeal of anonymity, devilment for the sake of it.
However, the conscious cultivation of a ****tish reputaion is beyond me.
Why would you do it?
What would you gain?

no idea
What would you gain?

apparently a sense of satisfaction from annoying others or provoking a reaction.
Some of the serious stuff is pretty scary tbh - you dont get it on here but insults on FB pages of dead people you never met, death threats to celebrities etc...I have no idea why anyone would want to do it this or what they gain

I don't think I revile anyone.

There's a couple of grade one helmets on here, but I think mostly what I feel for them is pity rather than revilement. It must be really difficult to see and hear day to day with your head that far up your arse.

Trolling is pretty rare these days due to the modding.

Now we have those great political and nuclear power threads instead.

Yeah, cheers for that that 😀

Was discussing this place with a few friends and it was amazing how often the same names came up - people who just come across as unpleasant - people who you just wouldn't want to meet or be in any way involved with.

I just struggle to understand their motivation - why would you constantly court disapproval?

Name and shame or else this is just attention seeking.

I was part of the conversation with Mr Spanner. The 4 of us had met before but never all at the same time. If we had each written down our top 5 list of trolls they would have been the same*. I too don't understand it.

*Except that I had DerekStarship on mine, and he would have been unlikely to include himself on his own list.

Everyone comes on here for attention in one form or another, some get it through being sycophantic, some are deliberately offensive/annoying others are just honest.

most just wanted to know what tyres work with flows and to have their choice of vanity purchase MTB reaffirmed by their peers.

Surely the anonymous, one off, amusing posters are the only trolls, the rest are people that you don't like?

Ahh yes apologies, my statement does not include technical posts! We are in the chat forum not the bike forum.

I think alot of users who get mistaken for "trolls" on here are actually just good, honest people speaking the truth - Rebel freedom fighters who are telling it like it is.

But people are scared of the truth, they are acared of what they are being exposed to - the real world (of mountain biking). They need to open their eyes and their minds.

Wouldn't life be a bit boring if we didn't have the "Troll or not Troll" question.
Maybe we should appoint a Troll Finder General 😉

I think half of the problem is if you post a normal, middle of the road sensible reply then no one bothers to engage, so you may as well not bother. No one likes being ignored. But if you post an inflammatory/insulting/out there reply then everyone jumps on the bandwagon... Maybe they see themselves as sacrificial lamb thread catylysts?

I haven't read the whole post so maybe this has been said, but I'm sure it boils down to "any attention is bettter than none"

Like the kid in class who no one liked and who got all of his interaction through being naughty, fighting, generally getting in trouble.

Of course there needs to be support groups for these people and they shouldn't be singled out, they had deprived childhoods and I read in the mail that the government was on the case as we speak . . .

Try to realise the truth.

There is no spoon.

Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

C'mon Rusty "don't be a spineless [s]tool[/s]" Spanner... who are the genuinely disliked??

I'll name names... I dislike Jamie. He looks like The Hoff. This is enough of a reason IMO.

You're so right. I love the way that you have with words. You just seem to hit the nail on the head every time.

That is the biggest load of patent bollocks that I have ever heard in my entire life. You should have your fingers cut off so that you can never again post such cobblers on the internet. People like you just make me sick.
