After a fiasco with a smart telly last weekend I need to start again.
My parents want to watch telly upstairs. No cables or aerials there and they can't be arsed to think about drilling walls. Conventional aerial not an option anyway as signal crap.
Satellite box running free sat but only one connection on disc. I assume that you can't split a cable.
It points to something like a normal TV plus a Now TV box but as far as I can see that won't give all the traditional channels, only catch up. They want to watch the same thing upstairs or down. Nowt more although iPlayer would be a bonus.
If it involves more than switching on and pressing a channel changing button its too complicated. What's the simplest solution?
No idea myself, I watch bugger all telly and loath technology.
Oh yeah. It must be wireless, not use a mobile phone and have no subscriptions.
Never used one but you can get wireless tv senders which you place one downstairs and one upstairs which talk to each other and let you send the signal from a downstairs skybox/dvd player etc upto the 2nd tv set.
Hmm . I am now lread to believe that iPlayer does provide live telly.
Pointing towards Now box as its 15 quid in total.
Opinions?
iPlayer does live TV for BBC channels. Now TV also has 4player or whatever the c4 version is called, and red bull TV. Don't think it has Five or ITV but I could be wrong, I rarely use mine
Do they want to watch different things at the same time? If not, TV sender (which I've never had great results with but should work).
Failing that, you're looking at sending the Internet connection upstairs (wireless / Ethernet over power plugs) and any one of a million Internet devices.
And the simplest internet version is???
Extremely likely that they want to watch different telly at the same time.
