Just bagged a rotary tool (engraving/modeling) from Lidl with an extra 100 piece accesory kit (and an LED magnifier with helping hands).
Bought for sculpting/art project and small jobs. Thing is the accessory kit didn't come with a guide so plenty of experimentation and online research ahead. Am very excited as now have a small workshed with electrical supply.
What do you do with yr rotary tools? Apart from cutting brake cables 😉
Nothing, bought one from Aldi years ago because it would be handy and I doubt if the packaging has even been removed never mind plugged in.
I've only ever used mine for polishing misty car headlights I think.
Now, an angle grinder is much more versatile!
As above, bought a Dremel years ago thinking it'd be the best thing ever & I'd use it all the time. Probably used it about 4 times ever. Last time it came in pretty handy though - used it to carefully grind the head off a stuck rotor bolt after I'd already ballsed it up too much to hammer in a hex bit or cut a slot!
Used mine for:
Cutting pipes
Cutting slots in cheesed screw heads
Grinding bolt heads off
Cutting mudguards
Sharpening chisels, garden tools, scissors, etc.
Channeling walls
Making odd brackets for various bike things.
...and other stuff I've forgotten about
Remeber the safety glasses when using them folks. Had the chuck/head on one disassemble itself at speed once, thankfully i wasnt leaning over it at the time but the bits of the gripping jaws left some nice dents in the ceiling of the shed, never did find them to put it back together tho.

Good advice - those little Dremel cutting wheels have a tendency to shatter & fly everywhere if you bend them even slightly, while cutting.
I always use safety glasses with the Dremel now.
I bought mine a few years ago for general DIY stuff & it has come in pretty handy. It's one of those tools that you does the job when you have tried all other 'normal' options and think 'sod it, I'll get the Dremel out'.
I should really look at all the accessories you can get for it, as I'd probably get more use out of it if I realised what was available for it.
Bought one from Maplins a couple of years back and used it for allsorts finally burnt the motor out beyond repair.
Bought another cheapo one from Argos that I will proceed to use to destruction.
Those that haven't found a use for them aren't trying hard enough.
I've got an angle grinder and a generic Dremel kit.......I use them both lots......the Dremel size one is brilliant for when you can't get a 4" angle grinder in on automotive stuff and mine came with a flexi head extension.
Definitely safety glasses are a must.....I've had two mini grinding discs explode unexpectedly and one shaft holding a cutting disc suddenly fail and bend to 90* nearly ripped the whole unit out my hand as it was rotating at 25000rpm!
The mini diamond cutting discs are great too from Axminster tools.
