As above really I have AutoCAD and 3D studio in 32 bit but my laptop is windows 7 64bit and the PC is vista 64bit.

Whilst I have your attention can I transfer the licence from the laptop to put windows 7 n the pc?

thanks

Yes to software. If it's an OEM licence of Windows 7 (ie. it came with the machine, and the manufacturer put in on there) then no, it's tied to that machine only.

I know Photoshop 32 bit won't work on 64bit machine, something to do with the installer

No it is a new copy bought from a shop as it is on my apple laptop. Although I just remembered I can update the Pc's vista fairly cheaply.

why don't you run it on the xp virtual machine that MS provides for this sort of thing...?

The installer is 16-bit on older versions of Photoshop, which won't work on x64.

There's no fundemental reason why x86 software won't work on a 64-bit OS though.

32 bit software definitely should. Only some freak incompatibility would stop it I reckon.

However, 64 bit windows NEEDS 64 bit drivers for hardware.

Is that not only available on the pro copy, I only have the basic home version.
