Our house came with a SeceuroGlide electric roller door which has been working fine but has become quite squeaky, and now takes a few goes to close - I think the resistance from something that has worn is making the motor think the door has fully closed.
Are these things maintainable by a DIYer or does it need someone calling out to fix it? The instructions suggest it's all supposed to be lubrication free.
Maybe you can clean the channels.
My roller is lubrication free too.
I don’t think a bit of dry silicone spray lock lube would hurt mine but yours may differ. My steel roller door has webbing riveted on the edges and that’s what slides against the steel channels. Plainly grease would attract muck and ness it up. Mines manual.
Can you disconnect the auto closing mechanism and see if that’s squeaky? Then move the door unpowered and see if it sticks?
just my 2d.
If it’s the standard Somfy motor thing then the door stops when the position switches in the motor tell it it’s at the top or bottom so if something’s stopping it from moving it will just stall the motor until the controller times out. More likely the motor capacitor has packed up, which happened to ours. Replacement is DIYable but not for the faint hearted.
Have you checked the batteries on the unit on the door? Ours became tricky to close and then eventually wouldn’t when the batteries were low. New batteries and the problem was solved
