Wife clipped a railing in a car park yesterday and now we've got green paint all across the rear wheel arch (along with a small dent).

Doesn't look to be any deep scratches - so is it worth trying to T-Cut (or similar) out, or should I just get some mobile repairy type around to do it?

The scuff's about 8 inches long, so a bit of a ball ache but to be honest I can prob live with the small ding in the arch.

Any recommendations . . .

Very fine wet & dry in a *SOAPY* solution then move on to T-Cut.

You've nothing to lose with trying the T cut and if the paint isn't damaged it'll probably come off with a little elbow grease.

Try Meguiar's Scratch X, works well and should remove the damage.

Big tin of green paint - as long as you match the scuffmark no one will ever notice

T-cut will definitely get rid of the green paint, just depends on the state of your paint underneath if it looks acceptable, but nothing to lose.

I bought one of those Tcut scratch repair pens a few months ago to get rid if scratches on my misses car and I was pretty impressed. Didn't totally get rid of them but made them pretty much unnoticeable unless you really got up close.

Can you push the dent back from the other side? If not the dent repair guys do something clever with a plunger that pops it out. You may find that the green paint is on top, meaning it#ll tidy up OK. I like Autoglym, cos its easy to work with.

You need to get the green paint off first without depleting your original paint
too much . Depending on what the green paint is it may come off with a solvent,
the solvent may attack your paint too and then you might end up with a blend of
green and your paint , T cut or similar may well blend the green into your paint.
So if its an expensive car get somebody who knows what they are doing in.
If you diy go gently and check what the effect is on a small area first , absolutely do not attack the whole thing in one go.

I run www.expresscarbodywork.com in wetherby.

T cut will take you 5 or 6 hours of scrubbing to remove it!
I wouldn't advise using any wet and dry unless you have a polishing machine to polish the lacquer back.

If you want to try to remove it your self the best thing to use would be either farecla G3 or 3m fast cut plus on a microfibre cloth.

This will still take you hours and cost you about £25.

If you re near wetherby get I touch and I could sort it for you in about 10mins

cheers for the info - I'm leaning towards getting someone to do it for me mainly as I'm a lazy ****er who really can't be arsed with spending a weekend morning trying to fix it (when I may very well stil need someone to come and sort it).

I'm in Kent so a bit of a trek for 10 mins work Robfury but thanks anyway
