Is there a way of locking the screen on iPod Touch when you are watching a movie on it?

The Classic has a lock switch on it which disables the click wheel, is there a similar way of doing this on the Touch?

Don't think so. Certainly doesn't seem to be one on the iPhone.

Just try not to paw at the screen while watching your "movies"? 😉

Its not for me, but for the beamlet. She's been watching back to back Peppa Pig on Mrs B's nano during car journeys. If I could lock the screen a iTouch she could watch the programmes on a larger screen but she has a habit of accidentally touching the screen and affecting the playback. She's bright but she hasn't sussed out how to use the menus on and iTouch (yet.)

Yep same issue here.

My 1yr old likes playing with the iPhone (CBeebies on iPlayer, Touchy Books, Baby Mozart, Mini Piano, BabyFirst TV are all hits)

Some of those apps do have lock functions built-in to them, but she always manages to press the physical Home button anyway so they only help a bit.

Someone really needs to a develop a drool-proof impact-resistant baby-friendly case with a sliding bit over the Home button - I'd definitely buy one.

A quick click on the power button seems to disable the shuffle feature when listening to music. Not sure if it works with movies though.

She'll probably learn how to fix it herself quickly enough, my 5 and 2 year olds play games and watch stuff on my iPad and it's terrifying how quickly they learn what I do to reset stuff like slide show WITHOUT being explicitly directed. They used to watch on the Nokia 5800 which had a physical lock, wish Apple would fit one though.

I'd buy one of those cases.
