Today I almost lost the rag with the poor chap on the phone. For context I have boiler cover with them, and last week found myself with no hot water or heating. No problems I thought, I'll give them a call and get an engineer round.

So yesterday I have a slot for them to turn up, between 1 and 6. Not ideal as I had to work from home but unavoidable. At 5pm no sign of the engineer so I give them a call to see if they are still coming, on assumption that they aren't and I can go out for a cycle. Told that they are on there way so stay put. 6pm comes round, no sign of the chap so I'm quite cross and call to ask where they are. It's been cancelled I'm told as they had an emergency. No call to inform me, and I'm pretty sure they could have told me this an hour earlier.

Anyhow, understanding these things happen I ask if they can send someone round today instead. When told I'll have to be in from 8 until 1pm I ask if the window could be narrower as I've already wasted an afternoon. Nope I'm told, nothing they can do other than give a 30 quid goodwill credit for the inconvenience. Not entirely happy I agree to stay in this morning.

Anyhow.. This morning comes and goes.. No sign of the engineer. Another 6 hours of my time wasted. Call to find out where he is.. Oh, nothing has been booked, but we can schedule another 6 hour window for you tomorrow. Other than the usual platitudes, the supervisor I spoke to made no effort to remedy the situation, and appeared not to give a shit.

How can a company survive with such appalling levels of customer service. They make on one look like hope in comparison.

Rant over.. Appreciate its a poor one compared to many on here

Yup, its cheaper and easier to just pay a normal company for maintenance.

Whilst this can be true, I ended up paying a plumber nearly 140 Mile round trip this winter to install a boiler. ALL local plumbers had a three week waiting list....

Yep they asked me that. I told them I was in danger of a heart attack due to high blood pressure !

Find it hard to separate the shit company policy from the guys on the phone.. It's not their fault, but frustrating when all they say is 'nothing we can do I'm afraid'

Big business opportunity when all the polski-plumbas get sent home next year. Retrain now, #brexitbonanza

On the flip side I called them a few weeks ago when we came back from holiday and the motorised valve was stuck. Called at 5 on Saturday evening, engineer was round at 8am Sunday, new valve fitted and away by 820.
