My wife bought tickets for the rugby world cup but looks like the site she bought them from doesn't really exist.

She went through the World Cup website (rugbyworldcup.com) and was sent to Getsporting.com.
I have just tried to get the tickets but their telephone has been stopped by action fraud.

Getsporting.com are a bunch of shitheads who stole £450 for 2 off tickets.

Report filed with action fraud... anything I can do to get the money back?

thanks

If you went through a link on the official tournament site then I'd be talking to them - they as good as said 'these are good guys'.

That's a bit saying I don't have a bank account, I just keep my cash under the mattress.

Credit card for all online purchases. Then you are covered.

Same here, I use my debit card, you're still covered with one of those, IIRC.

Even if you don't use 'credit' it's still worth having one if only for this sort of protection.

You can use 'chargeback' http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/visa-mastercard-chargeback but not sure whether that's a consumer right or a bank goodwill thing.

Sorry for you. That's a lot of money to lose with what seems little chance of redress.

Edric64 credit card doesn't mean you have to have debt on it. Clear every month costs zero. Protects you from fraud and if you buy online the good whilst in transit to you.

Besides if a site only accepts bank transfer you've got to suspect it isn't legit. Any reputable site takes credit debit PayPal

It's about protecting yourself, not becoming a victim

Debit card has some protection but not as good as Credit.

Set up your Credit card with a direct debit to pay in full automatically every month, and just use it for online purchases. Or you can even make a payment to the credit card before buying your tickets, or pay it off before the statement arrives if you don't want the balance to build up during the month.

How is this suddenly a 'bash the op for not having a credit card' thread? What if he's unable to get one for some reason, or has never seen the need before but now regrets it? How does making him feel bad about the way he paid make things better?
Sure, advise him that it's a shame that he paid the way he did but you lot come of in such a smug preachy way sometimes, maybe not the time right now huh?

Sucks that you've been ripped off, I'd be contacting the official site although I imagine they will have some blurb somewhere on there about third party sellers not being their responsibility. Still, you may get some recourse.

It wasn't the OP who said he didn't have a credit card.

It's a forum; people come on here to discuss stuff. Occasionally that discussion veers off slightly from the original question (slightly - LOL). In this case, advice about being able to do CC reclaims or debit card chargebacks is valid extension of the subject material, even if it doesn't answer the OP's particular problem it potentially prevents it happening again.

To the OP's question, if he's sent cash to a scammer who's somehow hacked his details onto the RWC website to appear as a genuine ticketseller, I'd suspect getting it back will be harder than a hard thing. I'd be speaking to the bank and police, sounds like criminal fraud.
