Been offered a little day sailer for buttons, looking at mooring costs (£600p/aish) but what about insurance? Would be on Coniston probably so inland waterways what's sensible coverwise and ball park how much for a non-ticketed chump? Does a day skipper ticket knock it down a bit?

Cheers ta

My dad works in insurance and does all the insurance for our club and Noble Marine are consistently the best - not necessarily the cheapest but the service is excellent.

Doubt you'd get any discount for day skipper, etc.

If putting it in a mooring make sure that's covered by the insurance and don't forget to factor in anti-foiling costs.... Can be spendy.

Shouldn’t be too expensive. It was ~£250 PA for a 32’ boat up to 50(?) NM offshore.

Add Bishop Skinner to your list.

Euromarine £180 p/a for Drascombe Longboat on a Thames trot mooring from April till Sept. Zero no claims as outboard stolen last year so high risk area!

Bishop skinner were excellent when I had a claim 20 years ago or so. Haven’t insured a boat since, but hoping retirement will include a few months afloat! (Some way off yet....)

Another happy GJW customer and also formerly a Noble Marine customer (no issues with them but it was a long time back).

The GJW online portal is really good for managing policies - I've got a total of five things on cover but only running two policies, which is tidy.

Others who are/were well known

Bishop Skinner
Newton Crum (if still going???)

My experience of marine insurers (dinghies and kayaks) is that generally they are low hassle and not in the game of dodging claims unnecessarily.
