Not the likes of Nike AirMax etc, which are largely aesthetically fine, but the proper running shoes abby tge likes of Brooks, Asics, Saucony etc, they are some of the ugliest things ever created by man, why? Surely they could make them a little less offensive on the eyes...

top tip .........

Don't look at your feet whilst running, especially in the vicinity of lampposts

So you don't wear them for anything else but running!

I love the daft coloured Tri running shoes.

I think Adidas and others have some great looking race shoes. Asics have a few reasonble lookers available too, particularly the off-road oriented ones.

Brookes, Saucony etc, do look gash to be fair. But yes, if they fit well then they are the ones to go for.

Substance over Style?

There seems to be a very fixed aesthetic in lots of running shoes which revolves around copious amounts of gopping white and silver stuck together in various complicated patterns.

I like my evo's cos they look fast,
[img] [/img]

And my flites cos they're red
[img] [/img]

And speeds because people don't notice
[img] [/img]

and treks because people think there ugly.
[img] [/img]

But the people who think they're ugly wear white and silver spangly monstrosities the OP refers to, so that's fine 😀

Very comfy, very light, styling may not suit everyone but hey ho......

but there again, I do actually run in mine, not match them with my "smart" jeans...

If other people can see your shoes you're not running fast enough.

Apart from Ian and wrecker those are jogging shoes. It's the jogging shoes that are ugly. Not to be confused with running shoes.

I've got some innov8s that I really like as normal shoes despite buying them for running.

A bit like this, but without the logos. I think these are the later models.

Function not fashion...

Unfortunate side effect is folks' dogs seem to take more of an interest.

New Balance are very on-trend at the mo, these Supra aren't too bad either, they may or may not be rubbish for running in though....

Plain black Asics gel kayano here, pretty inoffensive. I've got a pair of goretex lined ones that look the same but are not Kayano's too. But really, you shouldn't be wearing them unless you're running in which case you probably look pretty daft anyway. Just like a grownup looks on a bicycle!!
