Have a budget of around £200-£250 so obviously a concept 2 is out of the picture, any recommendations?

I would still recommend the Concept2. Either save some more, phone around gym outlets or make a cheeky offer on an EBay listing. I did the later a few years ago for a model D with PM4 and got it for £350 with just over 10,000 metres on it

The infiniti ones are well regarded.

Whereabouts are you? I've got a cheap nasty one you could have for nowt, to tide you over, if you can collect in Edinburgh? It's just been a clothes hanger for a couple of years (clothes not included)

You might be lucky with an old model Concept II. By coach picked one up for £350 recently and it's in VGC.
