How does £2300 for a 24m2 of flat roof sound(!)
£60/hr for joinery work extra to the quote(!)
£20,000 for 300m2 of spanish slate and sarking board replacement

All the scaffold/access/cabins/office/loos are price separately.

Seems a tad steep....

Do you really want "real" slate?

There are lots of much cheaper man made slate (fibre cement) alternatives. Check out the Marley Thrutone man made slates and similar.

We had a re-roof last year for £4400 using the above and a Marley breathable membrane.

It *is* a bog roof over shop and four flats behind.
It needs to be slate as we are required to.

Perthshire we are. I am heading for some more quotes - it is a shared block (we only just bought), and architect has got quotes.

* awaits to be flamed, but as always get more quotes but don't necessarily take the cheapest.

Matt - I know an excellent polish builder in Perthshire. He put a new roof on my house and I'm really pleased with it. I can provide contact details if you want.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned that prices have hit a bit of a ceiling. Last guy we had in to do some work felt he was cheap enough to be roofless with who he did work for.
